Stokke XPLORY Stroller

The Stokke Xplory is the stroller that grows with you and your child. The adjustable seat means your baby can face you rather than away from you. This encourages eye contact and feelings of safety, security and unity: it's the most comfortable position for a baby. Later the seat can be switched to face forwards so your growing child can begin to explore the world.

Comments about XPLORY (2010)-Dark Navy Incl.Chassis w Seat & Tex:

The Stokke Xplory is a wonderful stroller. It is extremely easy to break down and put together. We walk everyday for about 2 miles with the dog and my 7 month old loves being able to see me and his dog. I am able to manuever the stroller with one hand and keep our large dog on leash with the other. I am also able to keep the baby awake while we walk as he faces me and therefore his nap schedule is never disrupted. I truly wish Stokke was able to make a jogging stroller with similar features. My husband and I run daily as well and we would love if the Stokke made a jogger. I feel it is worth every penny!

Comments about XPLORY (2010)-Dark Navy Incl.Chassis w Seat & Tex:

I purchased the Stokke Xplory after a long internal struggle with the two obvious issues with this stroller:

          1. a price that soars upwards of $1200, particularly with the addition of an expensive car seat adapter and a limited number of car seats

          2. Looks that garner a cringe-worthy amount of attention.

HOWEVER, having used it for several months now, I can honestly say that I feel that I have made the best possible choice for my young son.

Having our baby elevated above the car exhaust and general street detritus is a huge plus in a city that is less than friendly to young lungs (or my lungs for that matter). The added height does indeed increase baby-parent interaction and the very comfortable seat allows us to be out for long periods of time. Baby loves it.

          Pros:
          - works as a booster seat at restaurant tables: you can position the seat and pull the stroller up to the table, placing the baby at eye level with you.
          - easy one hand steering with an amazing turning radius
          - ability to switch to two wheels allows for a (slightly) easier negotiation of stairs.
          - sturdy design with strong wheels – we take this up and over curb after curb, with little "bounce" to the baby and no shock to the stroller.
          - easy to fold and store.

          Cons:
          - wide: for those of you in areas where space (particularly in restaurants) is at a premium – be ready to be really squeezed trying to get to your table
          - stairs: negotiating subway stairs can reduce us to a state of near-panic if my girlfriend or I are alone, but maybe this is to be expected the first couple of times you try. Suffice to say, we chicken out and take taxis more often than we should.
          - still getting more attention than I would like.

          OTHER
          vs. Bugaboo
the obvious other choice for parents will be the bugaboo. Now i can't weigh in on how well the bugaboo works, but after months of research, I personally don't see an added benefit (such as the stokke's elevated seat) that justifies the cost

All in all, I would say that this is an amazing stroller, with issues being ones that are particular to my location and temperament. Useful for someone who NEVER takes a car or owns one and keeps a car seat in it.
