This seems to be an updated version of Playtex's Lil Gripper cup, which attempts to address complaints regarding the previous design. The new 2-piece "spill-proof" lid is much more difficult to align to the cup, and unless clicked exactly right, liquid pours right out of the side. I loved the previous version because of the simple straw - one of the only straw cups on the market that did not have multiple pieces (which tend to collect mold) and leak-proof flow valves that make it difficult to suck out the liquid naturally. While fixing the previous complaint that liquid would flow up out of the straw when the liquid heated to room temperature, this new cup has a 3-piece straw with a vent and a flow valve that is difficult to fit together, to fit into the lid, and to sip out of. (The leaking of liquid up through the straw could easily be prevented by loosening the lid just enough to allow for air flow, the way you might with a bottle collar. Also, by not leaving it sitting on your coffee table for hours!). The new cup also can no longer be squeezed to help baby learn to use a straw, which I thought was such a unique feature. While not perfect, the old design offered something that was not being offered by any other company; the new design simply imitates other products, BADLY. I'm stocking up on the old design before it completely disappears from the market.
