IMPORTANT INFORMATION PRIOR TO PURCHASING WOOMBIE
The concept of the Woombie is for it to be snug so it hugs your baby.
Remember when choosing the right size Woombie for your Baby it needs to fit them, as choosing a larger size for them to grow into, your baby may have too much free movement and therefore will not be effective as a swadlle.

I had the same problem as another mother here, the velco scratched my baby's chin and hers bled too. I would not recommend this product. It should be recalled in my opinion, especially since it's happened to more than one baby.

Comments about Lil' Houdini - Vanilla Shake:

*please note, the woombie gets 5 stars from me but not this version!! i have purchased several woombies and this vanilla lil houdini newborn one is the ONLY one that had a velcro closure** i use a woombie for all naps and nighttime sleep for my 2nd daughter (currently 3 months). i am great at swaddling with a blanket, but as babies grow the blankets arent big enough. i have several Halo and one kiddopoamus (?sp) swaddles and i am sick of the velcro, my DD breaking out of them, and not getting them "tight enough". and asking my DH to swaddle with those- forget it! the woombie is perfect because anyone can do it with consistent results anytime. my daughter still cannot fall asleep unswaddled and has easily learned to self soothe while wearing a woombie.
for us, the sizing is off, it runs small. i think the quality is great but i wish there were a lot more color and even pattern choices, and that woombies were ONLY available wiht snap closures as velcro is scratchy and comes undone. i also think the original and lil houdini versions are on the warm side and i live in a very cold state (maine) so i would strongly recommend the Summer Woombies to anyone living farther south.

I ordered the newborn size which says through 13lbs. Not true!! My 7 week old son is 11 pounds and this thing would barely zip up to his waist, let alone zip around his arms! The manufacturer must know this because there was an extra sticker on the packaging that said "NB up to 10 lbs". That would have been nice to know up front. Now I have to return it.

Comments about Lil' Houdini - Vanilla Shake:

My son at first did not like to be swaddled. He was always fighting to have at least one arm out. At about 2 weeks we gave up on swaddling, and he slept relatively well. At about 8 weeks, he was waking at night with the startle reflex, as well as he developed a nasty bout of eczema. He would wake himself rubbing and scratching his head. I made a homemade version of the Miracle Blanket out of Aden and Anais swaddle blankets, and that worked ok for several weeks, but he still managed to come loose, and we worried he was getting too warm when swaddled, but would be too cold if he came loose. Then we found the Woombie! How wonderful! We bought the Houdini version for our little Houdini, and we've had no problems at all. He's still able to move his arms around and near his face, just not up to his head to scratch. He sleeps soundly through the night. I do not use it when he is napping, because he doesn't seem to scratch or startle then. The one con is that it is line dry only, and it gets washed frequently. You just about need two for convenience.

Comments about Lil' Houdini - Vanilla Shake:

First off, our son loves to be swaddled. We used the aden+anais blankets almost from day one. When he started breaking out of those, he would wake up with flailing arms- I didn't know anyone else that had this product, but liked the idea. We specifically purchased the lil Houdini version (since I read the fabric on the originals to be a bit more stretchy and giving), and it's been great- he sleeps soundly during naps, and most of all, 10+ hours overnight. We even purchased a second- they've been washed numerous times (a few blowouts overnight) and have held up beautifully- no complaints what so ever, and I would tell every mom of a baby that likes swaddle to get one of these.

Comments about Lil' Houdini - Vanilla Shake:

I was hesitated at first, because i didn't like the idea of having velcro that close to the face. but i bought it anyway because my son grew out of his miracle blanket.
it helped the first few nights, however, after several washes, the velcro started to come loose. i was always very careful w/ the zipper and velcro, but he woke up one morning and has scratches all over his chin. it was bleeding too.
The idea seems neat and it could have worked except for that velcro. also, the price is close to $30 for literally a piece of cloth and a zipper, too expensive in my opinion. w/ that money, they could have put on a snap button instead of the cheap velcro
I stole the idea but use a carter Footed Blanket Sleeper instead. it cost less than 10 bucks, all i have to do is to tight the sleeves into 2 knots, then put the baby in, there i have what they call "woombie leggies" w/ a fraction of cost, and velcro free

My 6 week old daughter will not sleep without being tightly swaddled. The Woombie stretches too much to accomplish this. She also twitches a lot in her sleep and the movement tends to wake her up. With other swaddlers, she is in there tight enough that it's not an issue, but because it stretches too much, she wakes herself up in the Woombie.
