I bought this book because its ratings were great and because it was such a bargain (I even got free shippng!). It was a very good book. Catherine Newman tells it like it is!

Buy it, it is definitely worth it

By Laurie, big fan of Catherine Newman

I just finished this book last night and it was great. I have 3 year old twin girls and a 4 year old boy - so I could completely relate to many of the stories -- in fact, I have lived most of the stories. I found myself alternating between laughing (out loud) and crying as I read.

      The Mother of all Humor

      By Dawn, mother of Nicholas

Catherine Newman never ceases to amaze me. I read her journal religiously. She writes everything we all go through as mothers. I laughed out loud the entire time I read her book. It is utterly refreshing to realize you are not alone in this crazy ride of motherhood. This is a great book. Thanks Catherine!

      Hilarious and heartbreaking

Catherine Newman's big heart, sharp wit, and breathtakingly good writing take what could have been a standard "momoir" and elevate it to -- dare I say it? -- literature. A wonderful read for every mother who's ever secretly wondered what the heck she got herself into. Be prepared to laugh, often, and keep the Kleenex handy.

      Just wonderful

Waiting for Birdy has reminded me how precious my time with my only daughter, Aurora, is, and has convinced me that adding another baby to the mix, while mostly insane, will be an awesome, delicious adventure.

      You will love this book

I read Catherine's journal every week and totally relate. So when her book came out I knew I would buy it. I started reading and honestly could not put it down. I was tired, exhausted mama at work the following day because I had to read just a few more pages....I laughed out loud reading it too, my husband thought I was nuts. She is so darn down to earth and feels everything we feel. Love that Catherine-you rock girl!

Birdy was SO worth the wait

I've been reading Catherine's column since day 1 - I look forward to it every week and can't wait to read it when it comes out. I received Waiting for Birdy for Mother's Day and it's the best! We're trying for baby #2 and I feel like I have a girlfriend that went through ahead of me. Thanks for sharing your lives with us, Catherine!

      LOVE IT!

Just finished the book, after only a few days. I couldn't put it down. I've read the column for about 3 years now and can't wait each week to read the next installment. My kids are about the same ages, so it's so fun to compare. The book was great, it was so fun to reminisce about my kids at those ages. Catherine, keep the books coming!

      Too good for words!

As an avid reader of Catherines column I can tell you that there are more tears of both kinds to be shed. I don't know of anyone who can capture eveyday life with kids as heartfelt and as REAL as she does. Waiting for Birdy was well worth the wait and I've a feeling I'll be reading it again and again, because it's one of those books. Well done Catherine, you're magic!

Laugh and Cry at the same time

      By Laura, mom of two

I first read Catherine Newman's article in a parenting magazine. It was an excerpt from the book Waiting for Birdy. I had never read anything that captures the joy, pain and humor of being a mother so beautifully. I still get teary when I read those pages. I had to purchase the book. Thank you Catherine!

I have been an avid reader of her journal since it began. I have also read the other works that she has published in different anthologies. I love everything that she has written to date and hope that she will keep writing in the future. Her view on the world is breathtaking!! Love it!

I have passed this book on to moms to be and new moms. It makes all your neuroticisms seem ok. I laughed out loud often and smiled the whole time I read it.

      A mother's buddy!

I have read all of Catherine's postings, our children are nearly the same exact age. I'd laugh some days & cry some days with her. I even emailed her & begged to meet her when she came to visit family in Atlanta, GA. She has a writing style that makes any 2nd-time around mom feel like "I'm not alone & I can do this!".

      A little disappointed...

      By Paula mom of 3

I hate to even write this because I love Catherine and I love reading her weekly journals (in fact it's the first thing I do on Monday mornings)but I have to say I was a little disappointed w/ the book. A lot of it were things I have already read from her journal. I didn't feel like I found out anything new about her life or her kids. I pre-ordered this book months before it came out and was so looking forward to it but it wasn't all I thought it would be.
