I only write reviews when a purchase really affects me (in a very good or very bad way). In this case, very good. My 2.5 year old son has always been an earlybird. Goes to bed at 730pm and wakes around 6/630am. But there was a time where he started waking as early at 5am! This was going on for about 1 month. My husband and I were going insane. Finally I purchased this alarm clock.. I set the alarm to turn green (no sound) at 6am. He started waking at 6. A week later, set it to 630am. He started waking at 630am. Now it is set for 645 and he wakes up between 7-730am. It totally worked. But one thing worth mentioning is, it really depends on the child. My son is really into stop lights and we explained that Red means Stay in Bed and Green means Get up and Go Play! This is something we say every night now. But if you have a child that doesn't care for stop lights and / or doesn't listen, I wouldn't bother. I'm giving it 4 starts instead of 5 b/c its kind of ugly.

My 3 year old loves the clock. He doesn't want to get out of bed if its still red. It really helps with nap/quiet time, especially when he isn't asleep.
Only thing to watch out for is that the green light only stays lit for 1 hour after it comes on, so you can't set it to come on too much before they wake or it will already be off, I had to go in and make the green light come on again before he would get out of bed.
A great product that works like a charm and has a fun car on it too!

This seems like a great idea when you are desperate to get your child to sleep. I tried it but found that my 2.5 year old daughter ignored everything except her intense desire to get up a few times a night. Plus the red light is very bright in a dark room and maybe it woke her up more when she looked up in the middle of the night. we worked through it the old fashioned way- getting her to bed earlier and gently tucking her in again every time she asked. It took two months but now she is sleeping through the night again. It might work better with an older child or one who responds to incentives better. It is a charming clock, a good idea and otherwise worked well.

We bought this clock for our 2 year old son who has trouble sleeping through the night. Once we explained the concept of red light/green light to him, he was eager to see it work. The second morning we used it, he woke up 10 minutes before the green light came on and played in his crib. Then when the light turned green, he jumped up and yelled, "Green, green! Play, Play!" Unfortunately, the clock died on the second day of use. No matter what we tried - changing batteries, changing outlets, changing rooms - it still faded to black after 1 or 2 minutes.
Hopefully, we can get a new clock or refund.

I have ordered this stop light threes times and in every instance it has come broken. The first two times the figurine was either broken off or shattered. This last time the clock worked for one night and then could not be programmed at all. This was extremely disappointing for my son who had been waiting for his traffic light to know when to stay in or get out of bed. The first night that it worked he slept through the night. The second night he came into our room looking for Dad because there were no lights displayed and no clock and he didn't know what to do. This product is a good idea gone bad and I will not be trying it again. I will say that Diapers.com has always promptly refunded me but I don't know why the manufacturer can't get the product right.

Works great, have had it for over a year and my 3 year old won't get out of bed until the light turns green. Mine came broken too, but otherwise it's been a good find.

Once we superglued the little boy in the car back to the base, this product has been great. There must be a problem with the manufacturer, as my friend has purchased and returned this product three times from [@] for the same reason, it arrives broken. [@] has since stopped selling (temporarily) this product. So I will say that the alarm clock is fantastic, my son is actually staying in his room during his transition from naps to "quiet time," but wanted to caution people about the high potential for your alarm clock arriving broken if you purchase it soon. With superglue, it's fixed, and the broken piece doesn't affect the actual use of the clock.I will also add that I didn't attempt to contact diapers.com about this problem as my son was so excited we fixed it ourselves rather than return it. So I can't speak to any customer service reaction from diapers.com.

The car was broken off when the product arrived (not surprising given the design of a very heavy sculpey sort of substance attached to a lightweight plastic clock), but in desperation we plugged it in and tried it out anyway - by day 3 our 2 1/2 year old who had been coming into our room 3-5 times a night and waking up for the day at 5:30 AM since moving to a toddler bed STAYED IN HIS ROOM UNTIL 7 AM.

They may be lousy at product design and quality, but genius is genius. 5 stars for a week of decent sleep!
