We love this silly little book! I read it each night to my older daughter, and after a year or so we didn't even need the book in our hands. Just saying the words helped her get sleepy. Now that we have another little one, I had to buy it once again. "The sun has set not long ago..." just makes me smile to think about it.

Books by Boynton seem to really be able to grab a baby's attention. This book stays in that tradition. Our six month old loves it! I also appreciate the whimsical illustrations and the flowing language.

I've always admired Sandra Boynton's greeting cards in the past, and now I can enjoy it with my baby with this book! It's cute, funny, whimsical, and at the same time, short, relevant, and durable. I hope to get more of her board books for my baby. Oh, yes, and baby loves it too! :)

My children love this story for its simple, rhyming text and silly animal illustrations. I love that it ends with the animals being rocked off to sleep. Sandra Boynton is one of our favorite children's authors. This book is a must-have for bedtime!

This is honestly not one of my favorites, but my son really loves it. It takes place on a boat and it goes through a bedtime routine in a ryming and rythemic way. I thought it was strange that the characters in the book take a bath, put on pajamas, brush their teeth, and then go up and exercise, but my son LOVES that part. When they go exercise I always go "and a 1 and a 2 and a 3 and a 4...." and he gets a real kick out of it. After that it becomes more soothing and ends up really sleepy and sweet. My son makes me read it again and again. I find myself reciting from it while brushing his teeth, and he always anticipates the next page. It took me a while to warm up to it, but it was definitely worth getting.

This book made Sandra Boynton my favorite author for the little ones. Her rhythmic writing allows for fun reading in almost a rap sing song way. The story is original and so fun. It has become one of our favorite books and you will find yourself reciting it from memory to turn a frown around in a store.

I love this book! It's entertaining for both adults and kids, and is a nice short length. My toddler has a very limited attention span for stories, which is worse at night when he's tired. This helps keep the "bedtime routine" with dragging the time out. I often skip a word to let him fill it in, as he's just learning words like "up" and "down" - he loves joining in and it's so exciting to see him realize that his new words also appear in books!

Sandra Boyton books are great for 6mths and up. They have easy to understand language, sturdy board pages and great rhyming words. My daughter (19mths) thoroughly loves her Boyton books! We read them every day. Her vocabulary is growing as we read and she is learning to love books.
