      • Poor Dick and Sally. It's cold and wet and they're stuck in the house with nothing to do . . . until a giant cat in a hat shows up, transforming the dull day into a madcap adventure and almost wrecking the place in the process! Written by Dr. Seuss in 1957 in response to the concern that "pallid primers [with] abnormally courteous, unnaturally clean boys and girls' were leading to growing illiteracy among children, The Cat in the Hat (the first Random House Beginner Book) changed the way our children learn how to read.

Comments about The Cat in the Hat by Dr. Seuss:

My son is 15 months old and this is one of his favorite books for us to read to him. He'll go and pick it up from the bookcase and hand it to us so we can read it to him, we also act out the words so he can understand it a little better but any DR. Suess books are good.

Comments about The Cat in the Hat by Dr. Seuss:

This book, like all other Dr. Seuss works, is a masterpiece. Not only will it be for millions the first book they picked up as a child, but the first book ever read, absorbed, and requested. Let Dr. Seuss & his Cat into your lives- you'll know why.
