Comments about Radian 65SL Convertible Car Seat - Granite (2010):

I bought this because we are expecting our third and aren't ready to upgrade cars. I heard you could fit Radians in a smaller car. We had one Britax and one Radian, already, but our Evenflo infant carrier did not fit between them. Now, with two Radians by the windows, the infant carrier fits in the middle of the back seat of our '07 Honda Civic. These car seats are recommended for travel (I assume this is air travel.) We've never tried to take them on a plane, but they are heavy. I wouldn't try it, unless you have wheels. The other thing to note is that the seats are low. If your kids are on the small side, like mine, they will have to strain to see out the windows at age 2 & 3! But they haven't complained yet, so I guess it's not that bad. This seat is accomplishing what I bought it for - to fit three car seats in the back of our car.

Comments about Radian 65SL Convertible Car Seat - Granite (2010):

This car seat is excellent if you have a compact car. With this seat installed you still have room for two other adults in the back seat. It is a bit heavy, but it can be carried like a back pack. If you have a bad back, it wouldn't be a good idea to carry it at all, but for that you can always get the car seat wheely. Installation was a snap, literally, and adjusting the harness was very easy. It even has a pouch with an emergency child information card if, God forbid, there was a terrible accident and the parent became unconscious. This card would provide emergency medical personnel with all the info they would need for your child. I thought this was an excellent feature. All in all it is a great seat at a great price!

Comments about Radian 65SL Convertible Car Seat - Granite (2010):

We've owned just about every seat on the market. I finally chose this seat because of the amount of time we can use the seat (very tall strap slots!) and how narrow they are. I have a 3yr old and a huge 5 year old and they both fit with lots of room to grow. I drive a Honda Accord and can easily fit these 2 seats plus another adult or car seat.

Only thing is they can be tricky to install, especially if you are using the seatbelt and have long buckle stalks.

Comments about Radian 65SL Convertible Car Seat - Granite (2010):

The main reason we love this car seat is that it is so much sleeker than so many of the other major brands. We still have our son rear-facing, but once this car seat is forward facing, it simply doesn't take up much space. You can still fit other people/other car seats in the car without issue. Also, this car seat has a fabulous safety rating.

Comments about Radian 65SL Convertible Car Seat - Granite (2010):

This seat is awesome!! My son is still rear facing in it and will fit for some time to come. He's 3, 37 inches, and 29 pounds. He loves that he can climb into it himself. It was very easy to install using the seat belt. It fits great in my tiny Suzuki Reno. I love that it will last my son till he is at a safe age/maturity for a booster (usually not before 6/7). I love that it has an 8 year life span, most seats are only good for 6 years. Yes this seat is a bit heavy, but to me, heavy means sturdy, if it was lightweight I wouldn't want it, because it wouldn't feel safe.

Comments about Radian 65SL Convertible Car Seat - Granite (2010):

I have 2 Britax Roundabouts (for my 8mo twins) and needed to fit a 3rd convertible (for my 2 yr old) in the same row so I got this one and it fits! I did a ton of research and this car seat is rated so highly in terms of safety and likability. It looks more like a booster seat than many of the other convertibles (the seat sits is lower down). Since the recommendation is for kids to remain in a 5 point harness until they're at least 40 lbs, I thought this was a perfect next stage car seat for my son (weight limit is 65 lbs). My only issue is that the crotch strap is very short so I'm constantly reaching to pull it out from under my son. Overall, GREAT seat and perfect for those tight on space!

It was time to graduate from our convertable car seat. After much research, I chose this for safety and size. I drive a Nissan Sentra, so not much extra room. This is PERFECT. It takes up less space than his Britex. He falls asleep, just as quickly, and its so easy to get him in and out. removes easily to transfer to another car. He's happy I'm Happy, and feel confident that he's safe and secure.

Comments about Radian 65SL Convertible Car Seat - Granite (2010):

I wish I knew about this seat awhile ago. My son does not stay in a regular seat belt with booster very well, but I didn't have much choice since he was too big for his other seats. This seat will hold him in a 5-point harness until he is 65 pounds. I did not find it any more difficult to install than any other car seat - and I had to install with the seat belt and locking clip. I like that I can fit three of these in my backseat should the need arise. I also like that it sits lower than most other seats so my toddler can get in it on his own while I put my infant in the car. The straps are very sturdy/stiff - haven't had any trouble with them twisting as I frequently do with my other car seats, and they have strap covers so they don't dig into my child's neck. Best car seat around. I'm looking to get the Radian 80 when my second child is ready to move up into this Radian 65.

Comments about Radian 65SL Convertible Car Seat - Granite (2010):

We just bought another one of these after a bad experience with a Ricaro Signa. This seat is slim, sleek looking, and fits into cars of all sizes. Can fit on an airplane seat if needed. Very comfortable, and our daughter loves it because she can see out the windows without giant side-pads sticking out so far. Easy to adjust, easy to install. It is a little heavy for travel, but does fold up for a little easier carrying. The only improvement would be if they could make this seat a little lighter. But that may not be able to be done easily without compromising safety.

Comments about Radian 65SL Convertible Car Seat - Granite (2010):

I have used this seat for almost 3 years. We bought it when my son was 12 months old. He was 30 lbs and I wanted him in a harness for a long time. At the time it was one of the few seats that children could wear the harness over 40 lbs.

We fly a lot and love how the seat folds compactly. Because the seat is so sturdy I don't worry about the airlines damaging it. I have received several positive comments from airport personnel about how solid the seat is as it goes through x-ray. When folded, the harness straps allow you to carry it on your back.

We love how slim this seat is. It fits well in a our Honda Fit with an infant seat and an adult. This seat is very comfortable and the straps DO NOT get tangled. Its easy to get the child in and out of when running errands. Even on long road trips of 1500 miles my son does not complain about his seat.

We DID NOT find this seat difficult to install. There is velcro that opens up the seat cover to make it very easy to slide the vehicle seat belt through. If you don't use those velcro openings it really scrapes up your hand trying to get the seat belt through. The Latch is easy to use and store and the top tether works well.
It is easy to adjust the harness height for the child as well as remove the seat cover for cleaning.
I have never used this seat rear-facing as my son was big enough to forward face. He is now 45 lbs and very tall for his age; he still loves his seat and prefers it over our other booster seat.

Very difficult to install. Chose seat originally for safety and portability (folds flat) for airplane travel -- or so I thought until the carseat arrived. Even enthusiastically purchased the carry case bag. It is so heavy and so difficult to install, I don't think we'll remove it from the car it's in until we throw it away.

Comments about Radian 65SL Convertible Car Seat - Granite (2010):

We bought 2 of these seats in granite. They don't look very appealing on the website and almost looked like they would be hard and uncomfortable but are actually nice-looking and posh seats. I and a CPS tech installed these seats together. Since one was going forward-facing in the middle and the other was going rear-facing on the side, we had to use seat belt installation on one and latch on the other. Rear-facing installation with latch was relatively quick but did require 2 people and much elbow grease. Front-facing with a seat belt is actually pretty difficult. Be sure to get help with this from someone who is good at carseat installation. These seats are heavy, but they are made of steel so that should not be surprising. The heaviness meant that the top was difficult to secure rear-facing. We do love these seats. I am glad we bought them and plan to use them until my children reach the weight limits. My daughter told me that her seat is comfortable and my son seems to enjoy napping in his. They are soft and the material cleans easily. I have recommended this seat to several friends and believe it was a great purchase.
