Comments about Sure & Secure Extra Tall Walk-Thru Gate w/ ext.:

We liked this gate so much we bought a second to replace another gate we had that we weren't so crazy about. It's tall, and it isn't difficult to get through. The only complaint I have, and this would be true of any tension gate, is that it does have a tendency to move after getting used in a very high-traffic area, so it has to be readjusted every now and then. Great product.

Comments about Sure & Secure Extra Tall Walk-Thru Gate w/ ext.:

We had purchased this gate back in 2006 and loved it. We needed a few more since we have triplets. Since then I guess there were "modification" or "updates" made to the gate. It is not the same gate.
We purchased it twice and have now returned it twice. Too, bad it is not the same as the original.
The 1st time it bowed with all the extensions and would not swing right despite following all the instructions. My husband and I have Phyics and Chem degrees. We can usually put things together well and make them work. But it failed us.

The second time around - I thought it might work better in a smaller opening. IT again started to bow. And then tonight as I attempted to "walk-thru" it snapped apart. Very unfortunate. I need a TALL gate since our 2 year olds are clever and over 36" tall already.

I advice not purchasing this gate. Summer Infant needs to modify their modifications.

I installed this gate at the bottom of our stairs and it is great! It was easy to install (on my own) with pressure mounted option, easy to open 1 handed while holding my 16 mo old, and looks great. This is the 3rd gate we bought for this purpose - we had to return the others for various issues - but this time we found the perfect gate!!

I bought this product because I liked it was tall and had the ability to be put in different frames and sizes. My daughter now 15 months figured this out at 12 months and was able open and close the gate. If you put anything against the gate, it can easily dislodge from its location if not screwed into wall. Also, within 6 months of using it, the plastic hinge had cracked. I had 2 of them, each of them cracked to the point in which I couldn't use them. I returned them and purchased a DreamBaby and Kidco baby gates and cannot be happier. I had to purchase the extensions. When really looking for a gate, spend the extra 30.00 and get a better model.

Using this gate to make sure dogs and babies are safe when Mom and Dad are not in direct view of twin babies. Was able to install gate and both extensions in less than 15 minutes while taking care of twins at the same time. Couldn't imagine much easier installation. I wish there was a way to disable the auto-closure feature so when the babies are someplace else the gate could stay open. Am about to purchase another one for the kitchen.

I love these gates! We have three of them and I love the fact that you can have the functionality of a door with the non-permanence of a tension-mount. The extra panels that come with it are great too, to accommodate a variety of opening sizes. We have moved a lot and these gates have been used in three different houses and worked everywhere. They keep our toddling daughter out of the places we don't want her to go, but our 4- and 6-year-old sons are able to operate them pretty easily.

I was so excited about this baby gate! When my husband put it up, it looked beautiful. My son (10 months) learning to walk, hung on to the gate to walk, and shook it as any baby would and the gate door swung open, resulting in my son to fall. I was devastated! How is this a safety gate? My husband immediately, looked at the gate and reviewed all instructions. It was installed properly. The baby gate flexed. [...]I believe this baby gate is of poor quality. Please review your options.

I liked this gate - even installed it. The only problem is I thought "extra tall" could only be a good thing. I didn't realize that the height precludes it from being used in a doorway that has a door handle at a normal height - until after installing and then tried to close the door. So - in the end I had no use for this because the only two places I needed gates were at my patio door and at the door to my boys' room.

Just wanted to put this word out to potential buyers so you don't make the same mistake I did. It would be great if Diapers.com would add a reminder to measure the height of a possible interfering door handle before you buy.

Comments about Sure & Secure Extra Tall Walk-Thru Gate w/ ext.:

I bought this gate to keep my miniature dachshunds downstairs. We are renting so I didn't want to have to make any holes in the wall. Also, they are amazing jumpers so it needed to be tall. I also needed the walk through with auto close for convenience. When I purchased the gate I knew I was going to have to modify it because I was going to put it between a wall and an iron stair rail that was only 35 inches tall (one inch too short). While my quick modify job is not the finished product, it is working beautifully for now. Even without putting it up between two perfectly smooth walls I was able to get a great fit and the door swings very nice. I took the door stop off so it swings both ways and it closes and latches on its own regardless of what way it is opened. It is a little loud when it closes, but it lets me know its closed. I will repost in a couple months to update on durability, but it seems to be built well.
