This splat mat has been great as we transition our son from the highchair to the table. It's generously sized, so our table is well-protected. The mat is made of a canvas-like material with a glossy coating on the top. The coating wipes clean very easily. It seems very durable and well made.

The only improvement I could see is making the bottom a little more non-slip. It does scoot around on the table when my son gets bored with eating and starts playing with his dishes.

Overall this product is great - washes up nicely, holds up to a very active toddler and catches his eye. However, I wish the letters ran consecutively after the break so my son could start learning the letters of the alphabet. Where the materials breaks doesn't allow him to follow the "flow" of the alphabet. Bummer, but main purpose of the mat fulfills my expectations.
