      Comments about Easy Steer Sportster:

After researching all the toy push cars and asking other parents in the neighborhood, I learned that Step 2 is known for making the best ones, and determined this model had the best features. This specific model is great because it has the quiet "whisper wheels" and 360 steering so that it easily turns corners (all the other models only go forwards or backwards, which means you have to drag the wheels every time you want to turn). As it comes in red, it is also unisex, which is nice for parents who want to be able to use the toy car for future kids.

Upon arrival and installation, my husband and I were initially disappointed and frustrated because the steering wheel we received was defective and would not click into place (the shaft of the steering wheel was not long enough to properly clip into the piece that holds it). However, I contacted Step 2 and they immediately sent out a replacement steering wheel free of charge which worked perfectly. We compared the initial steering wheel with the new one, and we could see there was a significant difference in the length of the shaft (the new one was definitely longer and the springs that allow it to clip into place were much sturdier), so there was a definite difference in the manufacturing.

The other minor adjustments I would make would be to 1) make the parent cupholder larger and sturdier, (It does not fit a regular water bottle, only a small bottle of water. Also, it is flimsy and hangs rather precariously, and easily falls out, rendering it somewhat useless) and 2) to add a second child cupholder in place of the "Cell phone compartment". As for the parent cellphone holder on the dashboard, it would make much more sense to have a second child cupholder for snacks, etc, as no parent wants to put their cell phone within reach of their child. (Makes much more sense to use the trunk for any parent valuables, as you don't want these things to be within reach of the child).

NOTE: If anyone has any issues with the steering wheel not staying in place and constantly popping out, I highly suggest you contact Step 2 to send a replacement, as you may have received a defective steering wheel. Although it is cheap manufacturing as many kids toys are, the customer service was extremely accommodating in resolving the issue, and I think this is still the best push toy car out there.

Fantastic car but not easy to assemble

      Cons

      • Difficult Assembly

        Comments about Easy Steer Sportster:

This car is adorable....once it's put together, which is not very straightforward. The directions are not in text, it is pictures only and while they say it takes 30 minutes, it actually takes 90 minutes to fully assemble.

Definitely worth the assembly frustration though when you see the smile on your child's face! It's great in a city too because my son feels like he's on an adventure every time I take him out on the sidewalks around the city.
