I purchased this for my 2.5 year old daughter for a plane trip we were taking. The bag unzips completely open and lies flat just like a suitcase. It had plenty of room for all of her clothing and a few pairs of shoes for a week. The front pocket was large enough to carry a few books and small toys to keep her entertained while on the plane. The best part of all is that she was able to easily pull it and maneuver it through the airport all by herself, making traveling with multiple children so much easier. She loved pulling it through the airport and feeling like she was a big girl like everyone else. The wheels were spread apart far eough so she did not have any issues with it tipping when she was pulling it. It also has a stap across the back so that I could carry it for her if needed. It stowed with ease in the planes overhead bin as well.
