Like so many other stories you read; baby couldnt breastfeed and so we tried Enfamil Newborn which worked for a few days and then she started projectile vomiting. We then tried Gentlease and AR which had the same results. The Dr said to try Nutramigen, it was better but not perfect. She was very fussy, not napping, severe GERD, and gassy BUT she wasnt projectile vomiting anylonger. The Dr. just said she would outgrown the reflux but it kept getting worse. I tried the thickener in the formula and she still vomited most of her bottles. Also her bowels were not normal on Nutramigen, she had to really force to have a bowel movement and she had 5 or more a day and they were orangey colored. She also had a rash on her bottom and eczema on her elbows. I spent hours researching trying to find similar stories and what they did to alleviate it because I knew in my heart something wasnt right. Then I found a link where someone talked about Alimentum vs Nutramigen. I decided to try this over soy because it would be a smooth transition from Nutramigen because its so similar. I remember reading a review that was similar to my babys symptoms, they said they had better luck with the RTF than powder so I decided to start with RTF since I had been doing powder. Within 12 hours she was like a brand new baby! She is happy, ZERO reflux, eating more ounces less frequently, her bowels are even more normal(brown and 1/day), ZERO rash on her bottom and eczema is gone. If you are having issues and things dont seem right, they probably arent, trust your instint. I wish my Dr had mentioned this to me, it would have saved me from months of frustration and saved my baby from being unhappy for so long. Oh and she didnt even hesitate in drinking it so it must taste similar to Nutramigen.

I chose formula from the get go with my youngest daughter. I had her on the Similac Advanced (powder) but she never seemed to settle or have a 'happy tummy'. The constant gas pains, spit up etc. was just too much. Add that together with signs of Colic. We switched to the Similac Sensitive (powder) and that relieved some of her problems but not entirely. Then finally we tried the Alimentum but the powder version. Again some more relief but not total relief. Finally, at the suggestion of Similac we tried the liquid version. In less than 48 hours my daughter found her relief. It has been a lifesaver and my daughter seems to finally get a chance to be a happy content baby and not the mess she was for her first 7 weeks of life. The downside of course is the price. Plus, it would be nice if it came in smaller bottles for bringing it with us on outings.

Our 6 month old has been on Alimentum since he was 2 weeks old. The hospital started him on Similac Sensitive and that created the worst gas, cramps, and bloody stool. Ped said that he was milk protein sensitive and we are so happy to have found something that eliminated 95% of those awful symptoms. Give it 2 weeks to work if you are transitioning from another formula. Unfortunately, our insurance stopped covering formula (unless it were administered in some dungeon type way) back in 2008/2009, so no relief there. I saw that there was a price increase for the second time in the last month. Something sinister is going on with Abbott Industries ;) We love Diapers.com and their NEXT DAY delivery. I have an 11 week old, he was born a premie & have had problems with formula since he was born. We tried 2-3 different ones before we finally found Alimentum. It has worked wonders on the tummy troubles that he was having. The only down side is he price. He does so much better with the liquid ready to eat than the powder so that makes it even more expensive. I LOVED buying from diapers.com b/c they always seem to have what I need, its free shipping & I get it in 2 days. However, they keep raising the price on the formula. Its already expensive enough, [@]has it online for seven dollars cheaper than diapers.com. If I buy 2 6pk cases I get free shipping. Its takes longer to get it in but with planning on shipping I save about twelve dollars by buying from [@], I would much rather buy from diapers.com but since they keep raising the price that the savings at the other store is worth switching sites, especially since the formula is already to expensive. Diapers.com should really start taking care of their customers & stop raising the price on an already expensive formula. Babies that are on Almentum are on it b/c they NEED it!!

My daughter seems to be allergic to everything. She cannot tolerate ANY powdered formulas, even the powder alimentum or the "level 4" hypoallergenic formulas. If you have tried everything else... try this!

I usually feel like i jinx myself if i give a review before i have a chance to let something work but so far i am very impressed with this formula. A bit of history: My daughter is a preemie, we started out on enfamil enfacare supplementation as I could not provide breastmilk for every bottle feed and she needed the calories. She didnt do great on it. It gave her diahrrea, gas, colic and she always refluxed then it turned into projectile vomiting at least once a day. When we were given the okay to stop high calorie formula we tried an organic dairy formula which instantly was bad for her stomach(gas,diahrrea,and projectile vomiting) so we tried nutramigen. Her very first bottle she vomited and once a day after that. The gas wasnt there and she was a much happier baby with formed stools. After Nutramigen we tried an elemental formula(elecare) so far we have liked it for everything it has stopped and normalized(no more projectile vomiting, no gas, no colic, no diahrrea) however it is so thin that it made her reflux worse. Tried a mod. corn starch thickener and she threw that up. Over time and talking to people we had heard good things about ready made formula and digestion. My husband picked up a bottle yesterday and tried it for her second bottle feeding of the day(she started her day on breastmilk). She has not refluxed and projectile vomited and everything else that we liked about the elecare has been just as good on the alimentium. I am hoping it stays this way because I would like to be done with formula searching!

My daughter has a milk and soy protein allergy, and was exclusively breastfed the first 7 months of her life. We struggled trying to figure out why she wouldn't sleep, spit up constantly, and was just generally fussy all the time--finally at 6 months she was seen by a GI specialist who diagnosed her with milk and soy protein allergy, and advised me to follow a very strict diet eliminating all dairy and soy (I had already eliminated dairy, but not soy). I did my best to cut dairy and soy out of my diet, but could never stick to it 100%. For many other reasons, I decided that I wanted to start supplementing with a formula and I wanted to use this formula to supplement--I had heard it was the best tasting out of all the hypoallergenic formulas and babies generally did well on it but was skeptical whether she would even drink it. She would not drink out of a bottle for many months, so I never thought I could wean her, but when I finally found a bottle she would take and gave her this formula--she took it without a problem! It was like a miracle. It has taken me almost 2 months to totally wean her since I wanted to do it at her pace, but she is now completely weaned to 100% Alimentum ready to feed, and let me tell you, she has never looked or felt better. She is 9 months, and for the first time in her life she is gaining weight appropriately, sleeping 8+ hour stretches at night, napping, pooping regularly, and no longer spits up. She is clearly thriving, which makes me feel so much better that I choose to wean her. The best part...since it is medically necessary, we have it covered 100% by insurance! AWESOME formula. It doesn't smell great, but none of the formulas do, and my baby seems to love it. I only wish they made a organic hypoallergenic formula.

We love the ready-to-feed alimentum. After open heart surgery our daughter was still having feeding issues so the hospital tried her on Alimentum and within 24 hours she was better and within a week the difference was amazing! No more constant crying or constipation :) Our little one will only drink the ready to feed, but she has to be on 24 calorie formula so we use some powder to up the calories (it's HARD to mix)!When diapers.com has their sale it's an unbeatable price. BUT our [...] has it for under $7/bottle but is almost always sold out so we went to [...] b/c they will price match! We've been to our [...] so many times to price match that the store in our neighborhood has officially changed their price to [$] per bottle :)

My son was diagnosed with milk protein allergy after blood was detected in his stool at about 2 months. He has been on Alimentum ever since and has had no problems. Before we started this formula he would cry and scream during feedings, now he eats very well. We use mostly the ready to feed, but do use the powder when we are out. We tried Nutrimigen first, but he refused to drink it. I recommend this formula to anyone who has a baby with a milk protein sensitivity! And the price at Diapers.com can't be beat. My only complaint is that it smells even worse than regular formula, but it's worth it to have a happy, healthy baby!

I solely nursed my daughter until I had to return to work at 8 weeks. She had reflux issues since birth, but was doing okay with just breast milk. Unfortunately, my job is not conducive to pumping to keep a large supply on hand, so I had to find a formula to put her on part-time while she was with her sitter. We started on Enfamil Premium. She immediately became constipated, her reflux increased, and her skin began to develop severe rashes. We then began trying multiple formulas, at the recommendation of our pediatrician, (Enfamil Gentlease, Similac Sensitive, Similac Sensitive A.R., Isomil, Prosoybe, Gerber Good Start) to no avail. My daughter stopped sleeping at night and developed severe stomach cramping. She would scream for hours. At one point, I tried to stop the formula and switch completely back to breastmilk, but her symptoms did not go away. Finally, we went to a Ped GI. She was diagnosed with milk protein/soy allergies and GERD. Her GERD was so terrible that she had ulcers in her digestive tract. She was put on prescription Axid, Lactulose, and he wanted me to try Similac Alimentum. We have been on it for one month without any issues. She did refuse the powdered type, which after I researched, is not uncommon. The process of breaking down the proteins can make the formula taste bitter, especially in the powdered form. We use the ready-to-feed, and although it is expensive, she will eat it with no problem. I still nurse her at night. She is now gaining weight, her crying has lessened to a normal amount, and she is all-around a much happier baby! My son has eczema so doctor put him on this for a month to see if he is allergic to cow milk.
it turned out it he didn't (eczema didn't go away) so we are back to similac advance.
while on it, my son has no problem at all, he adjusted just fine, didn't care about taste or smell.

it took us MONTHS to figure out what was wrong with our baby.. once her ecxema got really bad, then the pediatrician said it was a COWS MILK in formula allergy. she may have had other allergies as well because once she got on ALIMENTUM she hated my breastmilk as well (even though i gave up dairy, spicy food, brocoli, etc..) i tried soy (constipation and fussiness and bad taste) and Nutramigen (REALLY REALLY smelly- she wouldn't eat it at ALL)and finally similac's ALIMENTUM worked WONDERS. people say it is smelly, but it really isn't compared to nutramigen. very mild smell. she gulps it down and we are just happy that she likes SOMETHING. i really wish we would have known this earlier (it took until month 3 to figure out rash, tummy aches, etc) but if we hadn't gone through all that we wouldn't know what we know now- so i hope to alieviate your search and say TRY ALIMENTUM. we are so so so so happy with it and she likes it and that is a high maintnance girl we have got! haha. plus the 32 oz liquid is best because it is creamy and easy to use. my little princess wouldn't let me use powder. it may be a little expensive :/ but it's worth it to have a happy baby (so i just buy generic diapers instead). We've been giving our son this as a supplement to breastmilk since he was two months old. He is milk and soy protein intolerant, but seems to be handling this very well so far. He is gaining plenty of weight and is a smiley, happy baby!

It is absolutley true that this is a better choice than nutramigen! My doc reccomended nutramigen so I listened. I have never seen a newborn make the kind of faces my son made when he tasted that stuff, poor baby. However, he drinks this formula just like breastmilk. He is 4 months old and vomited regular and soy formula. This formula has been a dream. If you are between nutramigen and this choose this!

This was very expensive formula and we thought it was working for us as our babies were showing a lot of discomfort to the regular formula. But it didn't and our babies had so much fussiness and gas that we stopped using it after 2 days. It's very stinky and I don't know why this formula has to smell like a hen-house. We switched to similac soy.
