Too Dry to Do the Duty

      By Owen's Mommy

      • Good Availability

      • Prevents Irritation
      • Resealable Opening

Comments about Chlorine Free Baby Wipes - 80ct. Pack:

      Use: Everyday during diaper changes.

Likes: The travel pack is resealable and pretty easy to use. However, the refillable tub is a little bit of a pain. Often the wipes do not stick together and get lost in the tub, resulting in me having to take the lid off and refill it properly...a big pain when you have only one hand to get wipes! I like the fact they are eco-friendly. They did not give my son a rash, or cause him pain.

Dislikes: The wipes are kind of thin, not that big of a deal. But they are super dry-all the time. I really wanted to like them but my husband and I end up using so many trying to clean my sons bottom. For me that's a deal breaker-if they can't do the job, they're not worth the hassle. I have found similar products to be more effective.

these are great. have no idea why others have a problem with the smell. maybe people are used to highly fragranced things-? they are strong and work well, in addition to being chlorine-free.

Comments about Chlorine Free Baby Wipes - 80ct. Pack:

I felt good about purchasing a Seventh Generation product; chlorine free wipes. I try to go the 'less is more' route when possible. However these wipes simply don't 'doo' the job. They are not moist enough to clean my little guys' bums and as a result I either go thorough more wipes each diaper changes than with other brands, and it can be irritating because they are so dry. Or, I have to moisten the wipe with water.

As a wipe, it does a fine job and the smell doesn't last.

I use only these wipes - next best thing to plain wet paper towel (use these at home). Does not irritate my baby's skin, like other wipes I have used, does not have artificial parfume and other "good" stuff.

Comments about Chlorine Free Baby Wipes - 80ct. Pack:

After reading the book Green Goes with Everything I became re-determined not to use the generic brands on my baby. The products - chemicals - that companies like Huggies and Pampers and store brands are allowed to use in baby products is shocking. I determined that even if it is slightly (and it IS only slightly) more expensive to use natural products like Burts Bees, Seventh Generation, etc. than Johnson-Johnson and Huggies, so be it. I only wish I had the money to afford an all natural mattress. They put flame retardant in mattresses now! Look up the dangers of breathing in flame retardant!

These wipes are just as strong and smooth as Huggies or Pampers and are all natural so can't be beat.

Comments about Chlorine Free Baby Wipes - 80ct. Pack:

I cannot believe some of the comments that people have posted regarding the smell of these wipes. One person even described them as "chemical". Well, water is a chemical, air is a chemical. Everything is a chemical! These wipes simply don't smell like your typical "baby" scented wipes. "Baby" scented wipes and diapers drive me up the wall. Synthetic fragrances and potentially hormone mimicing parabens should have no business coming in contact with a developing child. The 7th Gen wipes actually smell natural and contain only water, a cleanser derived from sugar, glycerin, citric acid (not vinegar (acetic acid) which someone claimed to smell), potassium sorbate (a preservative used instead of parabens which is also sometimes used in wine), aloe, and vitamin E. You can eat these wipes for crying out loud! Oh and they work great - nary a hint of rash on our 5 month old. We did try Earth's Best wipes once, but found that they "dried" to a sticky, tacky residue and thus we stayed with 7th Gen.

I started using these wipes on our newborn and never had a problem. I decided to try the Nature Babycare wipes just for the heck of it and they were fine, but super wet. I like the 7th Gen. b/c the smell isn't too bad, they aren't too wet or too dry, they are perfect in size, biodegradable and my son is 6 mos. old and has never had a diaper rash (knock on wood).

I have not used other products, so I can't make comparisons; however, I am very, very happy with these wipes. Several have commented on the smell. They smell like any other aloe-heavy, unscented skin product. If you're looking for "baby"-scented products, then something chemical/fragrance free is not the choice for you. They are very gentle on both my and my baby's skin: almost 6 months old and no diaper rash.

I love the idea of using seventh generation products but the smell of these was too much to deal with. Not only did I find the odor unpleasant but I have gotten comments from people who were in the area when I used them (not for a diaper change but a hand wipe-so there were no other smells to consider).

I have to use more of them than I would like to. They also do not smell very good. I continue to use them because they are chlorine free and better for the planet.

I had high hopes for these wipes because we love the 7th gen diapers and laundry soap but was very disappointed. Very strong and unpleasant odor and very harsh on sensitive infant skin (gave my daughter her one and only diaper rash of her infancy), and once the package is open the wipes dry out very fast. Cannot recommend this product.
