            Comments about Swivel Outlet Cover:

These are the absolute best outlet covers. If my child outsmarts these before it is safe for him to be around outlets, I will be so proud! They are very easy to install, you just have to make sure that you don't overtighten the screw, so that the swivel part will pop back in place as soon as you remove the plug. I tested both outlet swivels immediately after installing the cover, so that I could adjust the tightness of the screw to allow the cover to snap back in place. Super easy, and no problems so far!

              Comments about Swivel Outlet Cover:

My son's in-home daycare teacher recommends these so I tried them and they are wonderful. The blank plug inserts that were easy for me to remove were also easy for my son to remove, the ones that were hard to remove made the outlet a pain to use, not to mention trying to keep track of the insert. With these, even if my son pulls a plug out of the outlet, the cover springs shut and the outlet is safe.

                Comments about Swivel Outlet Cover:

I went to the childproofing class at my hospital, and they recommended that this exact type of cover be used, because babies are much less likely to figure out how to twist their wrist than they are to know how to slide things open. I've found this to be totally true with my own child -- no wrist-twisting yet, even at 12 months...

Construction of the device is pretty good -- only problem I've found -- it's very easy to over-tighten the cover over the outlets when using the center screw, causing the cover to not swing back after plugging something in. Yes -- if your outlet uses a single center screw, this cover WILL wobble back and forth slightly -- but it never swings out very far, so the outlets are always protected.

Way I installed it -- tighten screw, plug something in, pull it out, then loosened the screw until the cover can snap back immediately after something gets unplugged.

I haven't had any problems with any plugs yet. Bigger plugs don't get plugged *all* the way in, but none of the prongs will be exposed when that happens.

So, definitely a great little gadget that will keep curious babies away.

                Comments about Swivel Outlet Cover:

This is an excellent, well-built outlet cover. It mounts ~ 5 millimeters off the wall and is very secure. I've read previous complaints of installation failures related to the swivel opening not snapping shut.

Pre-installation requires a level & a philips head screwdriver - the level ensures that the outlet is actually level; the screwdriver is required to tighten the outlet box flush against the wall. Essentially, I needed to make sure each outlet was tightly fastened to the wall AND level before attaching the Safety 1st outlet plate.

I replaced over two dozen outlets with these swivel outlet covers and could not be more satisfied. After fastening & leveling each outlet prior to installation, each and every Safety 1st swivel outlet cover snaps shut and works properly.

Cosmetically, the Kidco cover is a better finished product - it has beveled/rounded edges, as opposed to squared edges; it has white painted screws, as opposed to silver screws, for a more finished decorative touch; and on the backside the spring activated parts are concealed (after installation, you never see this). As such, we have the Safety 1st covers throughout the house; and the Kidco covers in the nursery and bedrooms. Otherwise, the build quality of both products are on par. I highly recommend either of these products in lieu of the snap-in covers that babies can easily remove.

                      Comments about Swivel Outlet Cover:

Once you "swivel" to plug something in, the cover rarely pops back, which leaves the outlet exposed. This concerns me. Large plugs have trouble staying in the outlet with these; standard plugs seem to be okay, ironically.

                      Comments about Swivel Outlet Cover:

I have a couple of these installed and they do not always swing/snap back over the outlet holes when I unplug stuff. The Kidco outlet covers I have slide to the side (rather than twist open,) and they always spring right back over the holes when a plug is removed, no problems. Plus IMO it's easier to plug something in with the latter. The twisting action is harder on the wrists.

These are the only outlet covers we use. Excellent for outlets that will be used often. Most of the other types loosen over time or with use, these always snap back in place, no need to remember to place cover back in. Also, a lot of the snap in types could be choking hazards because of their size, no worries of small parts with these.

We love these outlet covers. I am so glad this site is selling them now--they are hard to find! They are more expensive than regular covers, but they are great for those outlets that you use often, but that aren't always in use. We use them the most in places where we plug in the vacuum. It automatically recovers the outlet, so you don't have to remember to put the plug back in! (or remember where you put it!)
