This gate is wonderful for deterring baby from the stairs. We purchased 2 for my mother's home and they are sturdy. But they are also loud. Be sure to have a power screwdriver and second person available for installation.

This gate is perfect in my opinion. I love that the entire gate swings open, making it easy to walk through while carrying things and it doesn't have a bar along the bottom to potentially trip over. It feels strong and secure. It took some time to install, but it was worth it because of how effective and easy to use it is.

Use this at the top of our stairs. We have 3 additional gates throughout our house and love this the most. It is a little loud due to opening mechanism but if carefully opened/closed, you can control the amount of noise so as not to disturb a sleeping baby. Wish this gate came with extensions!

We had the previous version of this gate with the light and that was difficult to open and eventually broke. But we liked the shape/size for our space, so we bought this one as a replacement. WOW, what an improvement!! MUCH easier to open but still hard enough so that my toddlers can't open it. Much better hinges. Very sturdy. Installation was not easy but ok - similar to what you can expect with any hardware mounted gate. Excellent product!

This was very difficult to install, but well worth the effort. We replaced an older Eddie Bauer gate that broke with this one, and this one is much more secure and safe. My 4.5 year old cannot open it, which is a good thing since we have a 1.5 year old who cannot climb down the stairs alone and would easily fall and be injured. We disabled the alarm for this gate the first time we used it- perhaps useful for a gate that ALWAYS needed to be shut, but since we are often home without the kids, or if the baby is asleep, we leave the gate open. The beeping sound was very very annoying!
