This is the second gate I purchased because we were so satisfied with the first! It's very easy to clean, no spaces to catch fingers or throw toys through, sturdy and level. It is more expensive but worth it. We use one with the hinges installed on the top of the stairs and another in a door. Works perfectly. Good width if its necessary and variable. The only con I would list is that isn't not silent to put up or take down, makes a bit of noise, however this was not an issue for our uses.

We bought this to go on top of stairs in a narrow stairway. It fit ok but I don't know how in the world you are supposed to carry a baby and pass through at the same time. Would be better for just blocking off certain rooms that you don't need to go in frequently.

Do not use on top of stairs!! I have had three hinges break from normal use. THIS SHOULD NOT BE USED AT TOP OF STAIRS!

It does, however, work great as a pressure mounted and the hinges lasted about a year before they started breaking.

My husband installed this in about 30 minutes. The part that makes it fit on walls with a baseboard is great, but it did make it a little hard to install at the top of our stairs because there is not a baseboard there. Sometimes it is hard to close for this reason, but no big deal. I don't mind having to do a little work to open or close this gate (meaning sometimes it takes 2 hands)- because I am SURE my daughter can't open it. That is the whole reason I bought the gate - if it is too easy for me to open then she is going to figure it out too. This gate is at the top of my stairs and it is STURDY!!! I feel confident that my daughter is safe - and I like that I can see from across the room if it is unlocked!
