Comments about Safety 1st Grip n' Twist Door Knob Cover - 4pk:

Our main purpose in purchasing these was to keep our 2-year-old out of our bedroom, unsupervised, due to his recent interest in jumping on the bed. We also installed one on my husband's man-cave door, the bathroom door and our front door. It is difficult to use the lock on the front door now, but that is my only complaint.

Comments about Safety 1st Grip n' Twist Door Knob Cover - 4pk:

Worked alright when we first got them (16 month old) kept him out of the bathroom, basement staircase, and doors leading outside. Also adult guests struggled to get out as well.

However if they were bumped into they fell apart, and my son is now 22 months and has figured them out and can take them off. Maybe its just he way childproofing goes, but I wish they were held together better or harder to get apart.

I currently have them taped together so they are harder to get off. Seems to be working so far. I have seen other styles I preferred though.

These work just fine. I think the key is to put them on BEFORE your kid starts fiddling with the doors- if they are just part of the landscape, they aren't as interested in defeating them. No problem fitting my standard Schlage doorknobs.

Comments about Safety 1st Grip n' Twist Door Knob Cover - 4pk:

I replaced another brand doorknob cover with these. These have worked exactly as designed. I read the other reviews and I can see that perhaps over time a toddler or young child will be able to figure out how to defeat them, especially if he or she has grown enough in size and strength, but I have a very hard time trying to remove them and that's what it would take. I have standard-sized Schlage doorknobs (very common), so the covers sit loosely over them and rely on a larger-sized palm to use. There is no rubber lining or anything that makes it easier for an adult to use (and therefore MUCH easier for a child to figure out.) If in the future these fail, it will not be because these are a bad product, it will be because, as with any childproof item, my child has finally figured out how to defeat it.

Comments about Safety 1st Grip n' Twist Door Knob Cover - 4pk:

We have these on three of our doors and they work great for keeping our clever 2 1/2 year old boy out of areas he's not being supervised in. You have to make sure to properly attach the two halves to one another around the knob to ensure they don't fall off when opening the door. I have had no problems since I made sure they were clipped together properly. It is simple for an adult to open the doors with them on, but not for little toddler hands.

within a minute of installing this on a closet door, my 2 year old daughter had taken it off and gone inside. I have another brand that someone gave me which works great, but for us, this one was not secure enough to be of any use.

This worked great for about six months, although all the grandparents had trouble with it, but at age two and a half, our son was able to get it off the doorknob. Not just once, but multiple times in one night. We're searching for a new solution.

These covers don't snap together tightly enough and come apart easily. They also fit a little too snuggly on my standard sized door knobs which causes the door knob to turn just by putting weight on the cover and twisting - which my two-year old figured out in about 10 minutes. I am going to try another brand.

These worked great in our old house (Our new house has lever handles). I kept them on all of our doors from the time my daughter was learning how to walk until she was four. They kept her out of rooms she didn't need to be in successfully. Once she turned four I just kept them on the inside of the exterior doors for added peace of mind. I'm always paranoid that my child or a friend's child might try to go outside without permission.

I even recomended these to my Uncle's wife to use who has an autistic son who once left their apartment on a "sight-seeing" trip without telling anyone. She was very upset, notified authorities immediately, but found him within less than an hour close to home. I wish she would have known to use these before. I would recomend them to everyone.

Now I just need help finding new ones for my lever handles.
