I wanted to use this as a pressure mounted gate between our foyer and great room, which has an opening of 56 inches.
I installed it, but at this width, the pressue mounted gate is just not secure. My 16 month old easily moved it across the door frame. If I made it as tight as I possibly could, the middle of the gate buckled in one direction, plus the gate wouldn't latch completely.
Perhaps this gate is fine with fewer extensions or hardware mounted, but it did not work for my space.

I bought this gate because I didn't want to drill holes into our wooden panels in our doorway and it said it could be used as a pressure gate. We tried several times to get the gate to work as a pressure gate, but when we got it tight enough to the wall that it wouldn't move, the door wouldn't open. We tried for several days to make it work as a pressure gate, but it was too unsafe and we ended up drilling holes into the wood to secure the gate. We used one extension piece and it was easy to install and seems solid and secure (now that it's screwed into the wall). It works great and is easy to open with one hand with a little practice.

We bought this gate because we have a large archway between kitchen and livingroom. We are using to keep our new puppy off the carpeted areas while she is getting house broken. It is very nice having the doorway to walk thru. Door way isn't one hand operational but is still relatively easy to use. We used ALL the extension pieces for our opening, gate doesn't seem super sturdy but it is serving it's purpose and the puppy can't get beyond it. Don't know if I would trust it with a child.
