I recently bought this car seat for my mother-in-law for our 3 year old daughter.I purchased a similar model for myself 2 years ago...my original basis for choosing Recaro was safety but got soooo much more.
I love it...it's sturdy(everyone comments on this).So easy to adjust the head rest as she grows. Her head doesn't bobble around like it does in my husband's other car seat when she sleeps.The material is so soft and soap and water friendly for those ice cream trips.(I read in some reviews of Recaro seats that the seat material made their children sweat alot.I never had that problem.)

We wanted the safest car seat. Searched, did research... Britax... Graco... too many cons/negative stories and recalls.

When a company like Recaro (who makes seat belts for nascar) comes out with a great car seat because they want the safest option for children... You know its gonna be a great product.
Yes the seat is large and heavy BUT that's what I want my baby in. Something that will keep her as safe and secure as possible.

LOVE the head pieces because she never awakens from a drive with a kink in her neck, supports her perfectly
Fabric is so easy to clean
Its soft
Comfortable
AND LOOKS SOOO good

With a new one on the way I am actually registering for another because we started using this convertible seat at 6 months and will continue till our kids are 3 and move to Recaros booster.

I was recently in a car accident with my toddler in the car. We were rear ended with the car behind us slamming into us at at least 20 miles and hour! I received a whip lash from the accident, but thank to the Recaro car-seat, my son is 100% fine. Unfortunately I do have to replace the car-seat (for safety reasons), but I am definitely sticking with Recaro! It saved my son's life!

I got this car seat after great recommendations from friends who use it for their babies. We used the Orbit baby infant system until my son reached the weight requirement, so i wanted something just as safe and secure as the orbit. This ProRide Recaro Convertible definitely meets my requirements. My son loves it and actually falls asleep almost every time he is in it, or is super quiet. i feel it is well-built with great materials and it also has some ventilation which was great too. My only MINOR complaint, and this would be with any car seat i believe, is in order to level it to the ground as directed in reversed position, we had to place a bath towel under the front of the seat and i dont feel it is as securely belted that way. also the buckle seems to be very low without much slack so it can be hard to clasp sometimes with a wiggly baby. overall i love the seat and so does my 9 month old. i give it 4.5 stars!

First, let me start by saying that for my son, who is 30 inches long, 20 lbs, and 15 months old, I have tried several convertible car seats. I have used Safety First All-in-One Convertible for several months, and have tried to fit my son in the Graco Nautilus, Britax Boulevard, and The First Years True Fit. None of them had the safety and comfort that the Recaro ProRide had. The Recaro is so wonderful and for a parent of a small energetic boy who typically puts up a fight getting in the car, the seat can only be described as a miracle.

The seat is pretty heavy but according to my husband (who does the heavy lifting), it was very easy to install. The straps also are easy to adjust. The seat itself is plush and very comfortable. My son's head did not fall forward as it did in the Safety First car seat (even with the recline). Also, because of the different adjustments and removable padding from the bottom, I can really tell that this seat will be with us for a long time. I don't know the technical term but the crotch strap in the Graco Nautilus and The First Years True Fit did not seem like it would hold him as he gets bigger.

The seat does have a recline option which is ideal for road trips but because of the way the seat is installed, you have to loosen the straps before reclining the seat, so you can't do it while in motion with baby in the seat. You'll need to stop, take the little one out, loosen the strap and then recline.

Bottom line: The car seat is a little expensive but I'm planning on it lasting us many years, so it's worth the investment. The Recaro brand is outstanding and I feel a complete peace of mind knowing my son is safe and comfortable.
