Easy on - easy off

Pros

    Cons

      Best Uses

        Comments about Stove Guard:

Good: easy installation. May be usefull to protect shorter children from splatter until they can reach the edge and pull it down.

Bad: each of my 21-month-old toddlers (not exceptionally tall) was able to reach the top of the guard on the first try from the floor and would rip it off in one second (alone) if I didn't remove the evildoer right away. As a matter of fact, the girl depicted on the box of the product is already too tall because on tippy-toes she can easily reach the edge and pull the guard down. The guard is plastic, so even attaching it with metal screws won't hold it if a 25lb child hangs on it - the plastic would just break around the screws.

Conclusion: if your child is as tall as the girl on the box, it is too late to use this product. If your stove has a lower compartment with a handle that can be stepped on, like ours, do not bother buying it at all for toddlers.

Therefore, the best use for this product is to protect babies from splatter and not so much to prevent toddlers from getting their hands into open flame or touching hot pots.

          Comments about Stove Guard:

I'm surprised these one star reviewers are surviving as parents -- they aren't very resourceful. This product works great. Yes, the tape that's included is not the best (works for a couple months). I recommend going to a "large home-improvement store" and getting a role of industrial-strength 3m indoor/outdoor double-sided foam tape -- this lasts for several months. Think people -- non-permanent adhesives give way to constant heat... Smarten up, stop playing the victim, and be a resourceful role model for your children.

          Keeps falling off

          Comments about Stove Guard:

I'm have a hard time finding a good stove guard, this one keeps falling off - the tape is not durable and when the stove gets hot it falls off (at the most important times when I need it on!). Good design, poor materials as far as keeping it on. But I can't find anything else, this one is the only one sold everywhere! They need to go back to the drawing board...

A must-have, especially if you own an electric stove that stays hot after it's turned off. I was worried about my daughter reaching up and touching the stove like she does on the counter. This product does the trick...keeps her from burning her hands, keeps any hot food from splattering, and also doesn't look that bad.

Initially I was skeptical that the double adhesive tape wouldn't last very long, but so far it's been a few weeks, and no problem.
The only problem we had, is our house cleaner removed the plastic sheild to wash it, and when she replaced it she put it on facing toward the element. When I started cooking that night, I looked down and the shield had melted. No fault of the product.

Unlike the other raters, we have had this up for several months without it falling off or having adhesion issues. It keeps my little 18 month old, as well as the curious older 2 from getting burned! We have a free standing gas range, so perhaps that is why this design works well for us.

terrible. I cleaned the stove thoroughly and the guard wouldn't even stick to the stove. It it is put on just with three pieces of regular double stick tape. We couldn't even use it once.

When my son started moving around, standing and climbing I knew I needed something to keep him from knocking hot pans off the stove. I bought this in desperation. I have done everything possible to make it stick, I've used 2 sided hardware tape, my husband tried to duct tape it on also, and we tried electrical tape but it would not stay on. We gave up and threw it a way. Two weeks later in the Kenmore store we found a stove made by Kenmore with a shield all ready attached an bought it right then and there. I advise looking for other products before wasting your money on this.

It fell off the day I put it on. I did everything it told me to do, i.e. take the guard off overnite so tape could adhere. And it fell off the next day anyway. It's a great idea. You just need seperate, and super strong double sided tape. Otherwise it's useless.

Works well, but the double sided tape needs to replaced regularly. The heat from my electric stove seems to damage the glue on the double sided tape. I bought a roll of industrial strength double sided tape and that works better, but still needs to be replaced regularly. Also, stuff gets between the feet and the stove and it's very hard to clean under there. I do it when I replace the tape. The top part is easy to clean as it comes right off. Added bonus, it catches splashing/bubbling liquid, too.

This works OK on my gass stove. We actually didn't attach it per the directions, just sort of shoved the bottom lip under the stovetop. My only complaint is the with it's 3-pat design, there is always food and grime stuck between the parts. It's a pain to constantly remove it for cleaning.
