I had this type with my 1st 5 years ago and lvoed 'em, so thought nothing of trying it again with this child. They leak horribly! I bought the 6 oz and 9 oz, and both do it. Got so tired of having to change the baby,and myself that I just put them up and ordered the Advent type. Am curretnly waiting to see if Playtex will refund my money on them or not. I don't know what they did to change them but it wasn't for the better at all.

My son is exclusively fed breastmilk, but he attends day care while I work. These bottles are as close to breastfeeding as I can find. The wide nipple base and round nipple are a good substitute for the breast - we didn't experience any nipple confusion. I also like the smaller 6 ounce size. I rarely prepare a bottle of more than 3 to 4 ounces to prevent waste. Plus, my fingers can reach through the bottle for easy sponge washing of the inside.

Before using the Advanced VentAires, I used the bottles that came with my Medela Breast Pump. My son took in a lot of air, so he had to be burped constantly. These bottles reduce his air intake considerably. We also tried MAM bottles; he seemed to choke with the orthodontic nipples, even the slow flow ones. Finally, I found that the Playtex Drop-Ins bottles leaked and were awkward to use. I have only had leaks with the VentAires a couple of times, and it was probably operator error.

I only have two negative comments about the Advanced VentAires. First, Playtex only makes silicone nipples for these bottles. My son seems to prefer latex nipples, and those are supposed to feel more like the breast. Second, I had to replace all of his VentAire bottles after about 6 months. The plastic parts absorbed a sour milk smell. This might have occurred because they were only rinsed out during the day and I washed them at night.

Overall, these bottles have done the job!

I have been using the Playtex Venti-Air Bottles since day one. I was unable to breast feed and even if I was, I have a baby with colic and acid reflux (among other feeding issues such as lactose/soy intolerance requiring hypoallergenic formula-Enfamil Nutrimagen enriched w/rice cereal so it's really thick). You do have to take it apart to clean it and it's an extra step but it's so much easier than constantly using a bottle brush. I don't use one!!!! It's excellent! I wash with a sponge and put on the drying rack. The bottle does an excellent job of keeping the air out of my baby's tummy and filters through the bottom of the bottle while feeding. Her tummy is doing so much better. I'd never switch bottles!
