This has multiple purposes. Learning colors, learning shapes, learning what fits where, applying numbers(by counting the sides of the shapes). As a stay at home dad, I prefer finding a "toy" that can be educational on several levels.

My two year old loves this. I like that it gets her to sit down quietly for a few minutes. A few games we play: She put the pieces on randomly in their proper spots, put them on in color order (all reds, then all blues, etc) or I will ask her just to do the triangles and circles. It has helped tremndously with her shape recognition.
The only thing missing that would be helpful is if they had some kind of "topper" that would keep the pieces on so it could travel well. This would be really good on a plane. But I guess I can just shove the shapes in a plastic bag.

My son is 17 months, so I look forward to him playing with this for a long time!!

Good idea, but not constructed well

Comments about Geometric Sorting Board (17 pcs):

I got this for my 11 month old daughter instead of the standard circle ring stacker, thinking that she could use it a little now and that it would grow with her. She loves holding the pieces.. BUT when I received it, the wood on one of the pieces is splintering so I had to take it away from her. I'm not sure if I should try exchanging it or if this is symptomatic of poor product construction.

My two year old daughter LOVES to play with this toy every day! She has rapidly developed new skills; she can identify the four differnet shapes and colors. I am so glad I included the toy with my last diaper order!

I can't believe how a $10 toy can make my son so excited! He can play with this over and over again and never gets bored. One of the best toy-purchases that I have made so far (and I have made many).

Comments about Plan Toys Geometric Sorting Board:

I got this for my son a bit too early (about a year early), but he still loved it and tried to put the pieces on the pegs. With help, he felt a great sense of mastery. He has tons of toys, but at 28 months, still plays with this almost every day, and as he is learning the concept of numbers, has mastered putting the pieces in the correct spots. It's also great for teaching colors and shapes, and early on he use to love to sort by color and shape. You can't beat a simple toy that he loves to play with and learns while doing so.

My son is considered "special needs". I have tried many different toys whether homemade or store bought. He loves this toy. He has had it for about a month and hasn't gotten bored with it yet. So many different things to do with it.

My first born received this from his grandma on his 1st birthday. He loved it. He wasn't good at it at first but played with it every day until he got it down. It was really interesting to see that he was very much determined to get it right. He is now 4 1/2 and the toy has been passed down to his younger brother who is now 1 1/2. It's entertaining and durable enought to hold up VERY WELL through two boys!! I think it's a fantastic gift to get your own kids or just as a gift.

This is a great toy. I only wish that I had bought it sooner for my daughter. She got it at 2 1/2 and it not challenging for her at all. She would have played with it more at 18 months - 2 years, I'm sure.
