        COLOR RUBS OFF

        Comments about Traveller - Red:

Were super excited about this till our son started waking up in the mornings with red on his pajama top. We realized of course that it was the red rubbing off the tent. We really liked it otherwise but are very disappointed in this.

        Comments about Traveller - Red:

This travel bed saved us!! Our (not yet) 2 year old son was climbing in and out of his crib and we tried a crib tent (until they were recalled) toddler bed, big bed etc.. but no go he still craved the intimate space of his crib. To make sure he did not get hurt while performing his olympic acrobatics we bought this bed and kept it all zipped up. He got the sense of security he needed and we got the piece of mind that he can't climb out and get hurt. It is very versatile and even fits in a standard sized crib or on the ground in the park/beach/camping. We liked it so much we bought 2 more to have on hand for day trips or our other son who soon will figure out how to climb out of his crib!
Only downside is that it is a little more difficult to assemble and take down than a standard pack and play.

Not great for newborns and infants

        Comments about Traveller - Black:

We bought this for weekend getaways (driving) and the occasional flight. I've been impressed with how well constructed & light it is.

However, I wouldn't buy this again, or recommend it to a friend for a couple of reasons.

        1) it's really time-consuming to set up. When we roll into our destination with a sleeping child, it takes one parent a good 10+ minutes to get the thing setup. Meanwhile, the kid has woken up and is upset. It makes it very hard to quickly transition the sleeping kid from the carseat to the crib.

        2) For infants & newborns, there's no way to put a sheet on. So the small babies who aren't able to sleep with blankets yet (due to SIDS risk) have to sleep right on the rough polyester ripstop. I wouldn't want to sleep like that, and my son HATES it. This probably isn't a problem for toddlers.

        3) My kid is a puker. He barfs in bed a lot. If he barfed in this thing, I have no idea how I'd clean it out.

When we chose this one, we were between this and the Baby Bjorn Travel Light. Having borrowed the Baby Bjorn, I like that one way better! Even though it's a bit heavier, it's easier to setup & you can use a sheet with it.

Quite a contrast to the Baby Bjorn

        Comments about Traveller - Red:

I own both the Baby Bjorn travel crib and this travel crib. They couldn't be more different. The Baby Bjorn is extremely simple and quick to set up and break down. There are almost no instructions needed and it can be done in less than one minute. It has a decent mattress pad with which you use sheets. But when it is folded down and in the travel case, it is bulky and somewhat heavy. You would not be able to carry it on a plane.

This product, by contrast, when folded and in its case is super light, very small, easily thrown over your shoulder, and will fit in the overhead compartment even if you are the last family on the plane. On the other hand, you will have to devote some time to trying to decipher the set up and break down instructions and then more time to trying to carry them out. You can't use a sheet, so the child sleeps on a slippery nylon surface which is not very pleasant. And the mattress (which you slip in under that nylon bottom) is a thin self-inflating pad that is not particularly soft.

Our daughter, who just turned 3, loves them both although the red P&T is a little more fun for her because she can pretend she's in a tent.

Our bottom line: when we drive we'll take the Baby Bjorn and when we fly we'll take the Phil&Ted.

          Comments about Traveller - Red:

I ordered this before a trip when my daughter was 21 mos. old, since the description said that it could fit children up to 3 years old, and I thought I could get about a year's use out of it. I was able to put it together pretty easily, and I think I would have gotten faster with practice. The volume was a little smaller than my travel-sized Graco Pack 'n' Play after folding, and it definitely weighed less. My daughter thought it was a fun place to play, but when she stood up and played a little too vigorously, the cot was in danger of tipping over. The length would have been great if our only use for it was as a sleeping place. The manual says to "discontinue use" when your child is 35" tall; my daughter was 34" tall, not even two years old, and was already too much for the Traveller to handle. I returned it, but it seemed to be good quality and I would have been happy to keep it if I had ordered it when she was younger and shorter.

          Comments about Traveller - Red:

We love our Phil & Ted's traveller! We tried out several brands before we bought and we are really happy with our decision.
We have taken it with us anytime we go anywhere, including flying and camping. It has served our baby well from 5 months old - now at 12 months and still has plenty of room for growth.
We love the top and side entry options.
It's light and easy to put in a backpack without being too heavy or bulky like other brands.
It's a little harder to learn how to put it together, but now that we know how, it's fast and easy with no complaints.
Our biggest complaint is fitting the parts back inside the carrying bag. It's a tight squeeze and just recently the bag tore. I plan to sew a new bag that is just a little bit bigger.
Overall, I'd definitely recommend this product over comparable items.
