Comments about Organic Baby and Toddler Cookbook:

So I like the recipe ideas in this book. Tasty food for little people. The recipe sizes are annoying, very small, who wants to make macaroni in cheese with a yield of 8 oz? Seriously, what planet are they on? No advice on freezing even. Lots of fruit and veg but grains are mostly processed white flour (pasta, etc.)

But I don't recommend this to annoying. This is a very food intensive, anti-breastfeeding book. Advice reads like the 1950s, maybe because it is from the UK? Not sure. You get the feeling the author thinks breastfeeding is disgusting and she is saving you letting the baby eat "food."

Not recommended for formula feeding parents either.

Breastmilk or formula should be the primary food for the first year of life and my four month old does not need "dessert."

Response to negative reviews for babies

Comments about Organic Baby and Toddler Cookbook:

Just a thought....it is a good idea to try one food out at a time and wait 3 days or so before trying out a new food. With that said, I think after that point it is ok to go ahead and mix the foods.

Comments about Organic Baby and Toddler Cookbook:

I began using this book when my child was about 6 months old. While the recipes are plentiful for older kids, the recipes for infants his age are quite limited (only a couple). Where the book says it's ok to leave bits in the food, my son absolutely refused to eat food that wasn't strained until 7 months of age. Also the book recomments certain foods/recipes that are not age appropriate i.e. pasta and sauce for kids who haven't got any teeth yet! I definitely will use it more when he gets older for the great organic recipes for older children, but for now, use it for inspiration to create delicious food blends that your child will enjoy, strain according to your child's preference, and take your doctor's (and your instinct's) advice about when to eat what.

Comments about Organic Baby and Toddler Cookbook:

I was really excited to read this book and implement some ideas into my son's diet, as he just hit 6 months and is starting solids. He has had several food sensitivities which have made breastfeeding both a challenge and extremely rewarding. I've sacrificed and have been very careful in my own diet to provide the best for him. I figured anyone writing an organic cookbook would have very high standards for a baby's health. I expected ideas to cut preservatives, sugar, salt, and harmful additives . . . and figured the author would have some understanding of proper infant nutrition.

Boy, was I wrong on that last assumption! I enjoyed the 25-or-so-page intro, but was disappointed with the first recipe and flipped through the book thinking "Are you kidding me?!? I'm a first-time mom and I even know not to advise these foods for babies this young!!!" Like recommending strawberries, a common allergen, for a 4 month old?!? And mixing like 6 different foods for a 4 month old in a 'first vegetable' recipe! Come on, at least acknowledge the AAP's advice! Or have a pediatrician look over the book before publishing.

I'll give it to the author, she has some GREAT ideas and for an older baby and toddler the recipes sound awesome! But I would double check to make sure that the ingredients recommended for babies under 12 months are really safe for your little one. And disregard the 4-6 month section. It should only be applied to older babies!

my mom gave me this book 4 years ago, and since we are very health oriented family and we don't buy boxed food of any kind I also wanted to make my own baby food, that way you know 100% what is in it. It is so easy to prepare the food and than you can triple the recipe and feed the whole family.

This was as a gift, and my baby loves the food. She is nine months and has been introduced to so many different foods, flavors and ingredients. The recipes are easy to make. I double or triple the recipes and freeze the extra in ice cube trays and she has food ready for the entire week or more.
