      • The classic books on a timeless subject -- for a new generation.

In 1975, Alona Frankel wrote and illustrated her first book, especially for her son Michael, on how to use the potty. Thirty-two years later, Once Upon a Potty -- Boy and Once Upon a Potty -- Girl are the classic books on potty training and have sold more than four million copies worldwide. These children's books help parents everywhere deal successfully with an often vexing challenge for the whole family.

Thanks to their timeless words and beloved images, Once Upon a Potty -- Boy and Once Upon a Potty -- Girl are being discovered and used by a new generation of parents. These two books, with their phenomenal staying power, target and meet the needs of an obviously perpetual market.

      A little too graphic

          Comments about Book - BOY:

Bodily functions can be a delicate subject. There is a fine line between too graphic and too elusive. This book is too graphic for my taste. My son seems to understand what potty books are depicting without illustrations of feces and urine on so many pages. The book "Potty" by Leslie Patricelli seems to be his favorite and gave him clear instructions through the age-appropriate, relatable story line.

                Comments about Book - Girl:

We started potty training my 17 month old daughter this week and although we don't expect great progress yet, she loves sitting on it and reading this story over and over. She loves the book and will sit through the story 2-3 times at once. She enjoys the illustrations and front and back cover as well. Well worth the money!

                  Comments about Book - BOY:

I did not like this book, and would have been disappointed had i paid for it, but it was a gift. I really didn't like the tone of it. It is so repetitive about the mother cleaning up after him, and changing him, that i found it made the absence of the father really glaring. Now its just a fact that most moms change more diapers and clean more [*] than most fathers, but this book pretty much makes it sound like the mom is the only person who ever does.I also disliked the excessive use of baby words. I'm not into teaching kids that they have a wee wee.

                    Comments about Book - Girl:

This book is wonderful. We received the book and our potty on Tuesday. Read the book before getting the potty out of the box. Today is Sunday and our little one peed on her potty! She was so attentive to the book, she listens intently and this a 2 year old (turned two a couple of weeks ago). I would recommend this book to anyone that has a child ready for the potty!

My daughter wants me to read this book over and over. I think she's getting the message, and has been sitting on her potty proudly. Next step, no diaper!

It is a cute book but I found the pictures to be too graphic and the potty didn't look like a potty so it confused my daughter.

Love this book! My daughter liked that she waited and waited and nothing happened. So it made it ok for her not to go every time on the potty (she tends to get frustrated if she doesn't go). I changed the words for her though. we use pee pee, not wee wee.
