Comments about Organic Cotton Classic 252 Crib Mattress:

no smell, good support...at first I thought it should be firmer (because it said extra firm) but my 13 week old seems to like it... what is like is that there was/is no smell. the waterproof coating is also made of a food grade product. The corners are NOT square so there are spaces vs. a totally rectangular mattress, but we are happy with it. We were looking at soy foam vs. this organic cotton mattress... this is great. This was a replacement for our older crib mattress that my 2 older ones had used...we should've gone organic and highest quality from the beginning...but only now, after 3 kids, I know that a high dollar mattress (support and organic) is very important.

Comments about Organic Cotton Classic 252 Crib Mattress:

We purchased this when I realized that our son's crib mattress had polyurethane foam inside it. I did a TON of research and found this to be the best out there. Didn't want to chance a possible latex allergy. The only con is that upon arrival the mattress smelled funny. I called Naturepedic and the kind woman asked me if it smelled like cut wood. I told her it did. She replied that it was the cotton smell. I ordered it directly from the manufacturer so I only had 30 days to return it. She suggested putting it in the room and that the aroma would dissipate. It was so bad that after a nap my son smelled like cut wood. I had our son sleep in his bassinet for two more weeks. At the end of two weeks the smell was gone and he has been sleeping on the mattress for two years now. He loves it. I love that it is natural.

We got this mattress after looking at a ton of organic options. The price is well worth what you get. With the mattress and mattress pad, I think my daughter's bed might be more comfortable than mine is! She loves her bed and the mattress shows absolutely no wear after over a year. No dents from bodies like I've heard about from friends. My only complaint is that it's maybe a little heavy to wrestle around for sheet changes, but well worth it for all the other benefits.

Great! I ordered the Naturepedic Lightweight series it did not fit my davinci kalani crib .I contacted Diapers.com they said some of the mattresses vary in size. But I could literally fit my whole arm down the side. The gap between the mattress and crib was huge. It was NOT 28" wide…more like 25.75".After speaking to customer service they sent me another naturepedic lightweight mattress. I took it out of the box put it in the crib…same problem. I then contacted Naturepedic told them the dimensions for their lightweight series was completely off. The woman I spoke to recommended I order this one. She was right! It fits PERFECT no gaps!. Has no harsh chemical smell. Very high quality! I recommend this to anyone with a Davinci Kalani crib!

Comments about Organic Cotton Classic 252 Crib Mattress:

Thank goodness for this mattress. After opening up a standard brand crib mattress and smelling all the chemical fumes (it actually made my eyes water and nose burn) I promptly returned it and ordered this one after doing research I should have done in first place. Of course it had no chemical smell, feels comfortable, toddler loves it, and waterproof surface is a plus. I was a little worried that it would be too big for crib, but it just fit more snug than standard mattress. Nice for safety, not so nice for standard size crib sheets. Sheet goes on but as other reviews have mentioned it is a stretch. Bottom line, I will sleep better at night knowing my child isn't breathing in toxic fumes with her nose to the mattress. Hurray for naturepedic. [...] So awesome!

As a physician and expectant first-time parent, I want to do everything I can to prevent SIDS and have my baby on a healthy sleeping surface. I felt like I would sleep easier knowing my baby was on an organic mattress. I like the fact that the naturepedic organic mattress is waterproof, unlike some others on the market. That will make life easier once our baby arrives. This mattress is firm and fits very snugly in our crib which is one of my favorite things about it. I think it is slightly larger than your average crib mattress. My sheets fit fine on it. I can imagine that changing sheets will be a little more difficult than with some other mattresses, but I would much rather have a sturdy, snug mattress and peace of mind.

I have purchased many product online over the years and this is the first one I have ever reviewed, even though we did not purchase it from this online retailer. We have had this mattress for over two years and of all the baby items purchased, this was the most important and also the purchase that we have been happiest with! I'm a dad that researches everything and after scouring the internet several nights for a healthy mattress this was what I believe to be the safest(chemical exposure wise) mattress on the market. This is why it has won so many awards. Yes, sheets fit tight, as I would assume is the case with any crib mattress. We used this with a simple [...] crib and it fit perfectly with no gaps.

I purchase this mattress after a friend told me about this company and their products. I did alot of research and this seemed to be the best option out there for organic, safe materials. It came the next day which was great bc my friend said she ordered it from another company and it took 4-6 weeks! There was no chemical smell when I opened the plastic and I'm happy that its waterproof as well. I will definitely be buying another one of these for my next child :)

We did a lot of research to find an organic/natural matress option and this seemed to be the best on around. I like how it is firm on one side for the infant and a little soft on the other for older kids. It's very easy to clean (simply use wipes and your done) and do not need all the extras if there is a leak. It was worth the extra month for a matress that is free of chemicals and gives us peace of mind.

Comments about Organic Cotton Classic 252 Crib Mattress:

Build quality seems to be very good. Free of odors (chemical or otherwise), as expected for an organic mattress. Were were very please upon receipt. However, after building the crib we ordered along with it, we discovered that, while the mattress DID fit between the crib rails, the corners did NOT fit between the crib sleeping platform anchors. Upon measuring the mattress, we discovered that it exceeded the published width by 0.25 inches. Given the box spring frame, the mattress could not be squeezed into place. We returned the crib as we wanted to keep the mattress. However, we were unable to find a crib that could accommodate the mattress, so we returning it. It IS possible the we just got a lemon. However, after spending upwards of 8+ hours on this ordeal, we did not want to chance it. We ended up buying an Acorn organic cotton and wool mattress with a natural latex core (made by Land and Sky). A key practical benefit is that such a mattress CAN be compressed, so, with its 28 inch width, it will fit very snugly in a standard 27.5 inch crib. We like that as gaps between the crib and mattress are a serious safety hazard.

                  Service and delivery comments:

We would like to emphasize that Diapers.com was great. Pre-paid return labels were emailed to us while we were still on the phone about initiating the returns. We just ordered more products from Diapers.com today.

Comments about Organic Cotton Classic 252 Crib Mattress:

I absolutely love this mattress! Yes, it is expensive, but it is worth every penny given that it is chemical-free and organic. This seemed the safest, most natural option available due to the fact that it is not made with latex ("natural latex" is produced using chemicals that I personally don't want near my child) or PU or "natural soy" foams, which are both processed using lots of "unnatural" chemicals. I also love that it does not contain potential allergens (wool, and latex again). How are you to know that your newborn is allergic to these things? I'd personally rather not risk it. Not only is this mattress chemical-free, but it is also firm and super easy to clean. You do not need to use a mattress pad or protector with this mattress - the surface is waterproof and wipes clean so easily. It fits tight in our DaVinci (BabyMod) crib. I've owned this mattress for a year now and I have no disappointments at all. We plan to continue using this for our daughter's toddler bed as well. I highly recommend this product to ALL of my friends, and all parents-to-be. Your child's safety is so worth it!
