The strongest selling point is that this is a firm, natural mattress. Unfortunately, it smells like a barn coming out of the package. Organic cotton does not smell like a barn. I contacted the company in UK, and it turns out the wool can give the barn-like smell.

That being said, I aired the mattress out for a week, and the smell has dropped significantly. When I couple the mattress with a wool mattress top elsewhere, the smell is not noticeable.

All in all, I'm happy with the mattress, but would prefer that they find some way of minimizing the barnyard like smell from their wool.

This mattress is truly all natural. There are absolutely no chemicals or synthetic materials. (Unlike the mattresses produced by some of its competitors.) The mattress comes with two cotton covers. The outer cover is machine washable. The inner cover is a snug fit, and it is not recommended that it be removed to wash. (It would be difficult to get back on.) Anyway, I did remove the outer cover, which has a zipper, and I washed it. I did not put it in the dryer, because I was afraid it would shrink. I air dried it over night. This was fine, because the mattress has a second inner cover on it. Which is suitable for one night, while the other cover dries. The mattress doesn't fit perfectly in my crib. The corners rest on the arms for the spring board mattress foundation. I think it is because the corners are square and not rounded. But, it really isn't a big issue. One thing I would like to note: The mattress smelled pretty strong like organic cotton when I first received it. Organic cotton kind of smells like staw or hay. Some people associate the smell to being in a barn. But, once I washed the outer cover and put it back on the mattress, the smell was gone. I am a very picky person, with a slight case of OCD, and I think this mattress is awesome. I am 100% pleased!

Just wish this product more affordable. It is not fair that babies whose families can't afford a mattress like this have to suffer the consequences. In England, where these mattress are made, the price is less than half of what they sell for here.
