the description was non-specific in terms of who the book is geared to, so i took a risk and got it, hoping it would work for me as a single lesbian mom. NOPE! in her own words "for the sake of brevity and simplicity... make the text adjustments accordingly)."

so, she gives a tip of the hat to single moms and families with two moms and two dads (wow- so progressive), but then suggests if her paradigm doesn't work then cross things out in the book and re-write it?

amy- how would you feel seeing your baby book crossed out. would you feel normal? would you feel visible, valued, embraced as you enter this world?

i am not passing on non-acceptance to my kid.

you'd think with an author who has 5 other versions of this funny, easy journal, she could bother to actually make one for single mom's, lesbians, adoptive kids, etc. come on... already!

very disappointed and very sad that there are still so many priviledged folks out there who cavalierly suggest non-dominant folks "just" cross out what doesn't work. those days are ovah... the gays can marry now!

This seems like a good baby book for me. It's nicely divided into logical sections, it's not too focused on whether you remember an exact date, and it has pages for pictures too. I wish I'd gotten it sooner to start on it, as some things I'll have to work harder to remember (my babies are almost six months now). I liked it because it doesn't seem like too much work to make two, one for each twin. If you're looking for the traditional/classic book, this is probably not for you - this one is more light-hearted and playful.

I really like this baby book because it's simple. I don't feel pressured to fill in a million details and dates- no one with a baby has time for that!

Its layout includes some important milestones, but not everything under the sun. Gladly, the emphasis for most of these is NOT on whether or not it was the FIRST such-and-such, since you may not remember the date, have a photo of it, etc. There are also pages for each month of age, plus seasons and holidays.

It's bound with spiral, so it has a room to expand once you've put in some pictures and mementos. Plus, it's small enough to fit on your bookshelf, unlike some other baby tomes out there.

This book makes logging baby first's fun and easy. I especially like the design and layout. It is all in chronological order and is made to fit anyone's needs. I only wish it went further into baby's life (beyond year one!)
