I am coming back to buy my 3rd of these gates, and remembered that I had written a bad review after frist assembling and installing our first of these gates. While initially more difficult to assebmle, it has preformed amazingly. We just love this gate, it is tough as nails, and doesn't budge. It is a great product, once you get it assembled and installed correctly. I woudl hightly recommend buying. It is perfect.

I wrote the review above, the one about how this gate was tough to put together. I have to say that once it was installed, it rocked. We love this gate, and I am about to buy 2 more. Once you get over the horrible instructions and difficulty putting together, you have an awesome gate. Our 30 pounder gives it her best shot 20x a day, and I think in the last 3 months we have had to tighten it back only twice. I mean she grabs the gate iwth both hands and shakes iwth all her mite, and it doesn't budge. This is just a great gate. And metal, I woudlnt' buy a gate that wasn't metal.

Our first hurdle with this gate was the instructions - there basically are none and the ones offered are horrible! As we tried to figure out how to put the gate together ourselves, it was impossible to get the parts Munchkin had put in place to come apart to add the extension pieces. We had to send it back because it just wasn't usable. It looks nice and received great feedback, but I was SO disappointed!

This was a nightmare to put together. My Husband and I assemble furniture, etc. all of the time, and this assembly was ill-fitting and clumsy. It just doesn't go together well, and it doesn't install well. It will do the job, but I am sure there are better products out there. It does look pretty good, once it is installed, but I question it's durablility.

We got one for the top and one for the bottom of the stairs. They can pressure mount or be screwed in. Opening with one hand is possible, but takes some getting used to. The auto-close function is gravity driven, so nothing to break or pinch and easy enough to prop open when appropriate. They are steel and feel solid and secure.

The cats don't like it too much, but in a few minutes they figured out how to jump over.

We have a large dog as well as a 16 month old and we use this gate in the doorway to our kitchen, it works perfectly. It's high enough the dog cannot get through. Great for while I'm cooking. No worries of little one getting around stove or open oven.

Why wouldn't you buy a gate that will automatically close? It does as it says, which is nice because reality is that guests / babysitters and even tired parents may leave a normal gate open. Not an issue here. Easy to install. Solid. Only thing is that in order to make it close, it can be loud ... but if you hold it as YOU close it, no issue. We have two and if we need more gates, will purchase these again.
