We bought this for my then-2.5y.o. son as a gift. 6 months later, he still enjoys it. When I put it together, I immediately realized upon trying to build one of the cars/etc. (it comes with an instruction book and varying-length wooden pieces with holes, which can be attached in different ways with the bolts/nuts to create vehicles and other things) that that part of the toy would be impossible and frustrating for him at that age. The bolts and nuts just barely fit on correctly to hold the creations together, and he could not have done that. So I left a few of the bolts/nuts and a few of the wooden pieces out, and the rest sits in a box waiting for him to be old enough. Even at 3 now, I don't think he has the patience or dexterity to get all the pieces together; it would have to be something I did "with" him in that I did all the work as he told me what to do. Still, he does like this toy. Not the huge hit I had expected it to be, but I do like how solid it is. He uses the saw to turn on/off lights and such that he can't reach and there's no chance it will break.
