      • Pop the oval peg through the oval hole and — “clink!”—it drops in the box. Repeat with the diamond, triangle, star and lots more. This classic toy features 12 chunky, vibrantly colored shapes and a natural finished hardwood cube. Toddlers discover dimensional shapes as they experiment with pairing each to its matching hole. Bonus: The removable lid makes it easy for younger players to plop shapes in and out of the box.

Why You’ll Love It: Beyond the basics, this sorter introduces toddlers to the parallelogram, octagon and quatrefoil. (Hint: The quatrefoil is the clover-shaped one!)

            Comments about Shape Sorting Cube:

Definitely for two years and up. shape sorters are great for 6 mos babies, which is why I purchased this for mine. However, at six months they are still putting things in their mouths. When they chew on the pieces, the paint comes off. NOT GOOD :( Threw it away.

I like the material and quality of this product. The size and color are perfect. My only complaint is that there are so many shapes it seems confusing for a baby to learn. I wish they had only 6 shapes.

              Comments about Shape Sorting Cube:

Bought this for my one-year-old. He is too young to actually fit the shapes into their respective holes, but for now he enjoys transferring them from the box to another bucket and back. It was a little smaller than I expected, and the wood isn't totally sanded smooth on the edges, but for the price and purpose of the toy, it is fine.

              Comments about Shape Sorting Cube:

I was so glad to find an old fashioned wooden toy for my 15 month old, & expected this to keep her occupied for some time sorting & matching. However after demonstrating how it works to her & then removing the side that slides to dump the blocks so she could try it herself, she went straight for the removable side, removed it, & proceeded to bypass the sorting by placing all the blocks directly inside the box! It wasn't difficult for her to figure out how to get it off, it barely stays put & falls out when you turn the box to view the other sides with cutouts. Would recommend a simple latch to hold it in place.

This product is made cheaply. The wood is very flimsy and I can easily see my daughter breaking the part that slides out. There was also a rough edge on the star cut out in the wood. I needed to sand the edge down to make it usable for my daughter. I do not recommend this product for your children.

My daughter seemed very intrigued by it as soon as I got it out of the box. Then she realized she can simply take off on side and put all the pieces in that way. Now she uses it as storage or as a seat. Or as a step to try to climb up on things. She's 17 months.

                        Comments about Shape Sorting Cube:

We have had shape sorts since our toddler was an infant but they seem to have gotten lost in the abyss of his toy trunkSSSS. I have gotten tired of sifting through all sorts of craziness, therefore I opted to get this Melissa and Doug shape sorter and I am so glad I did. As an elementary school teacher, I find this toy very useful in years to come as well. I have just two little gripes...1. I wished there was some kind of latch on the removeable door...you'd just need to be careful when storaging the box as well as little hands who feel like tossing the shapes randomly instead of popping them back in...sure way of losing the shapes throughout the house :) AHHH 21 month olds...it too shall pass LOL...or you'll just need to vacuum them up from under the sofa!2. The hexagon shape fits through the octagon shape very easily. I thought I had lost my mind for sleep deprivation when I noticed we are left with the octagon shape yet we need to put the hexagon shape through...I'm like OMG I need to wear my glasses when we play with this!!!!!The wooden box is made of decent quality. Not like Plan Toys brand but still seems durable...I doubt it would survive a 10 foot drop but lets hope that your toddler never attempts that. For the sale price of [$] and some change...I'd do it again and would recommend it.Don't forget parents, teach your children that 4 sided shapes are quadrilaterals too :)

This is a perfect toy! I prefer wood made toys, and this is awesome! All Mom's know their infant/toddler will chew on anything and everything. Can chew on this and doesnt get messed up. The one thing I dont like about this toy is the lid that slides into places falls out to easy! When turning the box around to find the right shape hole the lid will just slide off! Other than that this toy is awesome!

He is not yet able to put the shapes in the holes, but the loves to put them in and take them out of the cube. He stacks the blocks on the floor. I think the colors attract him to the blocks. This is one of his favorite toys and he has lots!

I ordered this toy because I wanted a simple, wooden toy/block set for my 11 month old son to play with. We were hoping the colors, shapes, interactive box would be engaging for him, but I think the fact that the blocks are so small makes the different shapes pointless. Also, the sliding top isn't easy for him to manipulate himself. In short, this could be an attractive wooden toy, but our son isn't as enthusiastic as we had hoped. Perhaps it would be a great toy for another child - or maybe when he gets older?

A great incarnation of the ubiquitous shape-sorting box. I like that it has shapes other than the standard square, circle, triangle, rectangle so there is more opportunity to learn big words, like "parallelogram". The corners could be considered a little pointy, but that's a tiny con versus a range of pros.
