        GREAT TOY! GREAT PRICE!

        By JB

Comments about Rainbow Stacker (9 pcs):

Mine came in perfect condition and is just the perfect size. Beautiful, bright colors. My 2 year old's "ponies" like to use the circles to jump on.... She loves to plop the pieces on the top too. Inevitably, at least two are missing at any given moment - but unlike a more expensive stacker, it doesn't stress me out too much - and it's always a happy surprise to find them again! They are fun to spin like tops, too!

I was a little nervous after reading some bad reviews. The paint was stuck together and they had to pull them apart. Or the paint colors were mixed. But mine are perfect. They are easy for baby to grab, not too small so I don't have to worry about him swallowing them. Will be a good toy for hears to come.

I thought that after multiple reviews mentioned the issue with the paint making the pieces stick together intially (causing different color paint chips on each piece) that the manufacturer would correct this....but, it hasn't been corrected. I was a bit disappointed, but my one year old doesn't seem to notice or care and she enjoys it just the same.

I really like melissa & doug products, however, when I got this one I washed it once with soap and water before giving it to my son and notice that the paint had already started chipping. Since he puts everything in his month it was a big problem and I had to give the toy away to an older kid. since it wasn't very expensive it was not too annoying but it will make me reconsider buying anything that they make that is more expensive then 10 $.

This is Annie's favorite toy and has been for months. She is currently 16 months old. She loves to carry around the rings, dump it over, knock over the post. Ours receives daily play, has been chewed on, dropped, kicked, etc., and still looks as it did in the package.

Melissa and Doug seems to be doing a terrible job monitoring its manufacturing facilities in China. The toy, a well designed multi-colored ring stacker, is great for toddlers to learn about sizes and stacking with little fingers. But it seems that the assembly chain did not wait long enough for the paint of each ring to dry off before stacking them all to finish for packing. Very disappointing for such good educational toy. Melissa and Doug ought to beef up on quality checking on its manufacturing partners in China.

I recently ordered this product and was dismayed to see that it must have been assembled while the paint or varnish was still wet, as the pieces were stuck together, the cardboard label was stuck to the piece it was wrapped around, and every piece had bits of paint color from the neighboring pieces stuck to it. [...] However, in looking at these reviews, I see someone complained about this same problem in July- so apparently it's been going on for some time. I'm concerned to also read about the other quality problems people have been experiencing (splintering wood, center pole becoming unglued, etc.) This is clearly a very poorly crafted, and possibly dangerous toy.

PLEASE if you choose to buy this toy, only do so with your own constant supervision. don't let your child play with it with a sitter, or even a tired parent. it BREAKS easily into dangerous pieces, and the top ring can possibly fit into an older baby's mouth. I would not buy this toy again. but if youre going to buy it anyway, please WATCH your child carefully and throw it away if you notice splinters, breakage, or if the glue is exposed. it's not worth your child's life over a cheap toy. natural or not, it's not safe. you should watch your child anyway, but most especially with this, with its potential splintery stick.
Im going to keep looking for a safer, even if expensive, alternative to this classic.

My 14 mo has enjoyed this toy since 6 months old. She now can stack the rings on the post. She loves to carry the pieces, dump them off the post, etc. The smallest ring made me a little nervous to begin with re: choking so I put it away for awhile. Also, the post makes me a little nervous because she *could* impale herself on it, I guess. I've had no problems with the paint, it is very well made, sturdy, and attractive.

This product must have been packaged while the paint was wet! Two of the rings are literally stuck together. The paper packaging was stuck to the product. Worst of all----paint chips were all over my baby's hands and face when he grabbed it. Even if this defect is limited to a few products, the design seems dangerous. The wooden stem is narrow enough that a baby could puncture their soft palate. I will return this ASAP.

I like the other Melissa & Doug toys we have, but the wooden stick in the center of this fell right out as soon as my 11-month-old started playing with it. You can see clear glue residue on the bottom, so it's obviously supposed to be glued in there. I was able to easily fix this myself, and my daughter really does like the toy, I just wish it was a littler better made. Another lesson in "you get what you pay for," I guess!
