This is very cute. Easy way to learn colors. Extremely well made. Not fragile and can take a bit of a beating from a little one. We really like it because it teaches and is fun.

Within a few days of playing with this puzzle we bought our 14 month old, she can now do it completely on her own and learned to match the colors!! We are so proud! What a great puzzle, love the fish too! Adorable!

I have a 2 yr old and a 7 month old and they both love to play with these puzzles. I got the fish colors, abcs, numbers, and shapes. Instantly my 2 yr old fell in love and cant stop playing with them. My 7 month old crawls up and slobbers on the pieces then hands them to his sister. We have had them for about 2 weeks so far and all the pieces are still in great condition. thats saying a lot for my house. :)

I thought this would be a bit advanced for our 14-month old, but she proved me wrong. It took her a bit of time to figure out how to spin the pieces to get them to fit, but she mastered it. I like that the pieces are all the same shape/size, so she can successfully put them in any fish. But really, it wasn't long before she was able to match the colors. Each fish & matching tail is a different color, and each color is also written on the fish. So not only can she match the colors, she can start to read them too.

This is a really great first puzzle. She's now had it for 4 months, and still plays with it daily. She has moved on to harder puzzles too (with several different shapes, and ones that don't have the picture/shape/color under the piece), but she still likes this one as well.

I had first seen this puzzle when my youngest's (who has autism) speech therapist introduced it to him a few months ago. He was drawn to it from the get-go, and is excited every time he sees it. I am happy that I was able to find it here so he could have one of his own. Its great for learning their colors, motor skill development learning how to put the pieces in place, and, when used with color flashcards, great for social learning and communication skills.

My almost 2-yr-old loves this puzzle. I love that the tails fit with any fish so that you can mix and match. My son loves matching up the tail and body colors and learning each color name. My only complaint is that the peg handles are a bit too small to hold easily, but it's still a great puzzle for us and should last a long time.

I am astounded at how much my daughter loves this puzzle! We originally thought it might be a little over her head since the description says 2+, but at 18 months, she took to it immediately. After a couple attempts she could put the pieces in by herself and now she plays with it over and over and over and over again. It's easy for her to color match, but she also likes to mix and match the colors. I'm sure as she gets older we'll be able to adapt the game to show her how to match colors and how to make sure none of the colors match.

The puzzle is a great weight - it feels sturdy without being heavy and is light and compact enough to cart around in the diaper bag for bringing out to restaurants or play dates. The pieces are easy for her to handle, and the fish are brightly colored and appealing. Another great Melissa and Doug product!!

Great puzzle for learning colors. Within a week my 18 month old could identify colors by name and by sight. She didn't get bored with it, she actually wouldn't put it away. We started mixing up the colors and she would put them in the right place. Great puzzle!

This puzzle has unlimited options... since all pieces fit in any slot, regardless of color, we can play all sorts of games. She can put all the pieces in the correct color places. She can make sure none match. We can swap out one mismatch and have her find the "wrong" match. She can just make colorful fishies! We got this puzzle about three weeks ago and she has played with it every day since we purchased it.

This is a great puzzle for my 2-yr old daughter. Within a week, she knew all her colors. The shape of the fish tails is not too overly simple - so she did not master it in a day and get bored... but after a couple weeks, she was dumping this out and putting it all back together again on her own. I think the previous review was talking about a different fish puzzle that is magnetic with a fishing pole - This is one is just a wooden peg puzzle.

My 2 year old son doesn't like to sit and play for very long but this toy keeps his attention. Unfortunately, as fun as it is to take all the little fish off the board, it's difficult putting them back in. It's impossible putting them back using the fishing rod, but even without it, it's hard for a 2 year old (and even for me) to differentiate between the various fish shapes. So, after he's done fishing, I have to go and put all the fish back in for him. All the fish have very similar shapes of course, so doing this is not as simple as a child's puzzle should be for an adult. lol.
