As I was putting together the art easel, the whiteboard wasn't fitting and I realized the holes drilled into the board were not perfect and would not mount on the frame. Also, the two bottom "frame" boards had NO HOLES drilled in them so there was no way they could be mounted. I'm VERY disappointed in the defective product. I'm going to order a different brand. I would hate to have this happen to me again and have to ship back to Diapers.com again...

This is a very solid easel. I like that you can adjust the height by size. The compartments are nice and great for storage. I also perchased the art easel companion kit - which although nice, was little pricey for what was inside.

This is a great easel. We bought it for our 4yr old son. We love the colors and it's super easy to put together. He loves the chalk board and the trays have his art supplies at his finger tips. Diapers has awesome shipping, it was delivered the next day after ordering. We've only had it a week, so time will tell if the easel will be able to endure. But you can't beat the price and shipping.

I would probably give this a 5 star rating, but can't say that till after it has been used awhile. We bought this for my granddaughter's 3rd birthday. It arrived in great condition and was very sturdy after putting it together. It survived 5 grandkids playing with it the first day. My daughter has another brand easel that falls apart all the time, so we are pleased with the sturdiness of this one.

Our son received this easel for Christmas last year, and LOVES it. It was easy to assemble, and is very durable. My son (now 3) and his cousin (now 4) love doing art projects together on it. Each chooses a side, and they can play at the same time. I LOVE it!!!

what a great item! Bought it for our two yr old for Christmas, She plays with it everyday. Easy to keep clean. Lite for me to pick up and move if I need to. My husband put it together on Christmas Eve, and it was a breeze for him. It may seem like a lot of money-because I'm cheap- but what a great product that will last for many years!

We love this easel! We have had no problems, whatsoever, with the chalk board. I had read about that on other reviews too and was leary to purchase the easel because of that issue. But, the chalkboards used on a daily basis, by my 5 kids and works great! I agree that the knobs can be a slight problem. I wish Melissa and Doug sent extras along or you were able to buy more, just in case. I just try and remember to tigthen them up once a month or so, and that seems to avoid any problems. All in all, it's a great product!

I haven't had the problems others describes.
The easel is easy to use and the roll paper seems reasonably priced.
I have not tried the chalkboard yet but the erase board and the roll paper are great.

To add to the above, the paper roll holder doesn't hold a paper roll well (esp. when the easel collapses like the first reviewer described) and the "cute" plastic knobs that hold the easel together come unscrewed easily - my 3-year-old liked to take them off, and now they're all over the house. I don't consider this a good or safe product; it's been folded up in the closet for about a year now.

I'd describe this easel as "OK." Gets the job done, I guess, but with several aggravations, and I really think it is way overpriced.What I don't like about the Melissa & Doug easel:1. Chalk board is much too "slick" even after you prime it, following the directions. I actually bought chalk board paint and resurfaced the chalk board, which helped a lot (but was a nuisance to do!).2. It's not that stable. It's fine for drawing/painting, but it's hard to pick it up and move it because the sidebars are not very secure, so it collapses onto itself. Very annoying.3. Doesn't hold Melissa & Doug Easel Pad very well (!?). Clips are hard to get around the pad and the easel, and the pad is not big enough. I guess you're supposed to tear off one sheet at a time and clip it up, but I'd rather store the whole pad up there and tear off as we go.After buying this I discovered the [...] children's easel which is much better (better chalk board) and LESS THAN HALF the price!!! It's also made of wood and has a chalkboard on one side and a dry erase on the other. If you have an [...] near you definitely go that route!
