As a breastfeeding mom I tried lots of different nipple types. When my babies used the standard ones with a narrow base Their breastfeeding latch also became pinching, painful, and unproductive for removing milk, making me start to get plugged ducts. With other nipples with wider bases, my babies couldn't even open wide enough to latch onto the bottle. That resulted in them not eating or else only latching onto the nipple tip, creating the same problem as with narrow base nipples. These medela ones have a happy medium--not too narrow, and not too wide. They are the only ones that really encourage a wider latch with my babies, and breastfeeding is much easier with them. I love these bottle nipples!

My 8-month-old mostly breastfed baby has recently started inverting and squashing her slow-flow nipples so I upped her to medium flow but I don't notice any difference with these - she still flattens them.

The flow is good and these have worked great for breast milk or formula
