Ten days into breastfeeding I was so sore and miserable I almost gave it up. A lactation consultant convinced me to get these and I admit I was skeptical from the first look. But thank God, they really did work to keep bras and shirts OFF the nipples and let them heal between feedings. They weren't very noticeable under layers but they did make bras extra tight (especially when engorged) so you might have to loosen straps or adjust things a little. I didn't even need them after a few weeks, once the little tyke got a hold of how to latch. But if it weren't for them I wouldn't have been able to take it one more day.
