      Comments about SoftFit Breastshields:

About 11 months into nursing my daughter, I started noticing that I was pumping less. So I bought these, hoping that they would do the trick. They didn't feel any different from the shields that came with my pump. And they weren't the magic bullet I was hoping for. It was just time to wean!

      Comments about SoftFit Breastshields:

I pumped with my first one till he was 9 months old and now with the second one was still using the old style breast shields. Happened to find these and am i glad i got these. They are much more comfortable than the usual ones, massages my breasts and i think my milk supply has increased after i started using these. I dont know why i didnt buy this before. I dont feel any pain when i use these contrary to other reviews, i am a large breasted woman 42DD, but these fit me ok, i would have loved a bigger size in it but can do with these.
BOttom line, if you pump often you got to have these

                Comments about SoftFit Breastshields:

I will start by saying that I really like Medela products and have been using a Medela pump daily since my daughter was born. I recently went through my first dip in supply and after researching online found that the soft fit breast shields and more comfortable and yield more milk in some women. I used these one time and didn't get through a full pumping session before I had to take these off because they hurt so bad. There is a seam that connects the hard and soft plastic right at the wrong spot, creating a slight ridge. The ridge is hardly noticeable with your finger, but try pumping with it and oooooouch.

These are the best! I have had a hard time keeping up my milk supply because I had to go back to work early and work 12hr shifts. I wondered if they really did make a difference and went back to the standard shields. Only once was all it took! They don't pinch and also reduce the irritation around the areola. Made a huge difference in the pain associated with pumping.

With all the pumping I do I was eager to try these new soft shields which promised to gently massage my breast while pumping. I was very disappointed to feel no difference between this and my other medela shields. After I finish pumping the soft part of the shield got a little sticky and it actually hurts to remove my breast (like pulling off a band-aid). I'm going back to my original shields. Not worth the extra money in my opinion.

I pump 2-3 times/day while I'm at work, so comfort matters. I am kicking myself that I didn't find these sooner--they are well worth the money, way better than the hard plastic shields. I only wish they made them in sizes other than medium. Still, they are so much better than the hard ones that I'd rather use these in the wrong size than the hard ones in the right size. I was having trouble with a plugged milk duct before, and it cleared right up when I started using these.

I agree with previous posts. I have 2 sets that I've been using for about 7 months. Both need to be changed because the soft plastic is deformed and no longer creates the suction needed for pumping. EIther way, I still think its worth the cash because they seem to be much more comfortable than the hard ones.

I have been pumping for 5 weeks, since my wee one was born (8 weeks early). I had some medical difficulties after the birth, which meant I started late with my pumping too, and he was too small to try and really latch, so I was quite sore and uncomfortable getting used to the hospital pump- using lots of lanolin, having uncomfortable days. Since using these, no soreness, irritation, almost no need for the lanolin. As others have noted, these do warp a tiny bit, but this doesn't affect the performance. If you're having any discomfort while pumping, I'd really recommend trying these- worth the price for sure!

I love these breast shields. However, they do lose their shape over time and then, they are not as effective. I find that I need to replace them every 30-45 days.

my baby was in the NICU for awhile when 1st born so I was pumping every couple hours around the clock which eventually led to a LOT of irritation. I was able to get different sized shields but it didn't help. Then I found these and I felt so much better. Much less irritation. I still use them now that I'm back at work and pumping more often again. They will warp if you put them in the microwave steam sterilizer bags like I did before I read the directions! But even slightly warped they get the job done and remain comfortable (for a breast shield). I'm ordering a second pair.

The manufacturer does not recommend you sterilize the product in the microwave but instead sterilize the product by boiling it. I suspect microwave sterilizers have something to do with the product warping for others. In general I find the softfit to be more comfortable. The tubing isn't as lengthy as the phalanges so the milk travels less of a distance before getting into the bottles. This benefit offers a little more privacy if you're pumping and driving.Generally, there is a difference in comfort level but if you can't find it locally [...]) it may not be worth the shipping and handling (if that's not already free).
