I like this shield better than a full circle shield because it allows my baby to have a better breathing area for his nose. The nipple is also a smaller diameter allowing better adjustment to a real nipple.

this shield has made breast feeding so much easier. My newborn was having a hard time latching on- couldn't get a mouthful. As soon as I started using the shield-we have had no problems!
Breastfeeding went from intimidating to enjoyable! I don't know if I will have to use the shield forever, however, I will of it helps assure my daughter gets what she needs.

Couldn't breastfeed my girl WITHOUT them

                By Plushka's Mom

If it wasn't for this product I wouldn't have been able to give my LO breastmilk for the last 4.5 months. I'm still breastfeeding with them (every meal) and its going well. I have just enough milk for her feedings but am not complaining. I tried to BF for the first two weeks without them (because I didn't know about them) and I ended up with sore, cracked, bleeding nipples. My husband found these on a BF blog and I've been using them ever since. I do wish they came with some kind of container, but that is definitely not a big deal compared to the benefit of being able to BF your baby. They say to only wear these temporarily b/c it could hinder milk production but as I said I've wear them for every feeding and still have milk.

My baby was born a little early and had feeding issues and jaundice so we had a VERY rocky start with breastfeeding. I also have very small nipples so my baby would get frustrated trying to find where to go. I would not be able to breastfeed without this little thing! It helps draw out the nipple and help my baby latch on properly. It's also good because you can see that milk is coming out. I wish I didn't have to use it at every feeding, but it works! I have not had any nipple soreness or supply issues either- highly recommend!

                Got me to continue breastfeeding

I was almost ready to switch to formula after a week of attempting breastfeeding... this nipple shield really saved us. My baby was a poor latcher, plus he had neonatal jaundice and lost more than 10% of his weight and was given supplemental formula (via bottle) at the hospital. Breast feeding was a struggle when we came home and I was ready to give up. After reading many reviews on [@], I decided to try the nipple shield out despite what people were saying about "nipple confusion." I figured my baby had already gotten the bottle, what's the harm. You soak this shield in water, invert it and then attach it to your nipple. It is hard and makes it easier for baby to latch. Some cons... the sucking sensation will not be as strong so I don't think that it will stimulate your breasts as much as a regular latch. However, I took fenugreek and also pumped after feeding and my supply was good. It's annoying to have to put it on every single time. Also the shield is clear and very hard to find if you lose it in the sink or drop it on the floor. Also pretty pricey but worth it! After using this for about a week and supplementing with expressed milk afterwards, I was able to get my boy to latch on without it. I just took it off midway through a feed and he latched! I kept on taking it off midway through feeds for 2 more days, then just decided to store it away. Now my boy is almost 6 weeks, gaining weight great, and latching on without a problem. He takes the bottle as well and there does not seem to be any confusion.
