Comments about Learning Tower - Dark Cherry:

I found this while researching for a step stool for my 18 month old daughter to save my back while trying to get her hands washed. I had no idea anything like this existed, but I realized this could also do double duty in the kitchen to avoid the constant wails of 'up' when mom and dad are trying to cook. Our solution before we had this was to either try to prep food while holding her or let her sit on the counter - which we all know are both terrible options.

We decided to splurge on this and are so glad we did. The minute our daughter saw it she wanted to be in it, and she stayed in it for more than an hour, enjoying her new vantage point (this was without any toys or doing anything). We were shocked as we thought we'd have to do a little coaxing or explaining what exactly it was.

Now, at 20 months, she helps us prep food, empty the dishwasher, get food from the fridge, and has even made cookies with us. And she still LOVES it. She's also perfectly content just playing on the counter while we cook, because she's able to be at our level and feels like part of the action. A hidden bonus is that it holds 500 lbs, so mom and dad get to use it as a step stool too. We use it at least 3-4 times a day. It's by far the 'toy' she uses the most.

Really, the only potential drawback is it's size and weight. Make sure you check out the dimensions and consider that it will always be there. It doesn't collapse, and it's pretty heavy to push around, even on a tile floor. We bought little velcro strips for the feet and that helps a lot, but it still requires effort to move. I don't think you need a particularly large kitchen (we use it in a small apartment), but a galley-style definitely wouldn't work for this. Also, it has little 'feet' that stick out from the platform, which are perfect for stubbing toes on. We've gotten used to it, but it was annoying at first.

The other drawback is price, though when you consider that parents can use it as a step stool and that it's big enough for 2 7 year olds to use, I'd say it's worth the investment for something you can use for years and years. They also have separate attachments to make it an easel or puppet show after it's outgrown it's usefulness in the kitchen.

Comments about Learning Tower - Dark Cherry:

This is a great tower ... very sturdy and my son loved it. But it was HUGE and took up a lot of space. Be prepared that this will become a permanent piece of furniture so plan for the room required. After dropping it on my foot getting it in/out of the closet, I ended up selling mine after only 2 weeks and buying the folding model. Like I said -- great tower if you have space and don't mind it being out all of the time, but it is very heavy/bulky and hard to store.

Comments about Learning Tower - Dark Cherry:

This is the most useful and fun thing we own for our little guy. It says for 18mos + but I saw how much he loved it at my sister's house and had to get one. It takes up sort of a lot of space, but you can see their little eyes light up when they can be at the counter at your level. It's really sturdy and two kids can be in it at one time. It's changed our morning routine for the better b/c I can put my 15 mos old son in there to 'help' as I make his lunch for daycare. When we had an issue with the finish (it was uneven in a few spots) the company was immediate to respond and send new pieces. They truly want to make sure you are happy. I cannot say enough good things!!!
