I love the fact that I don't hear any back ground sound unless my toddler is talking. This is not a monitor that you will hear every single noise or breath in the room. It is voice/loud sound activated. Once my Son wakes up and talks I can hear everything in the room. Or if my Dogs bark I can hear everything in the room. It also has lights that light up to tell you the intensity of the noise it picks up. I have not had any problem with static or it just to stop working. I've owned it now 6 months. The belt clip is nice. and I like the fact that I mounted the one in my son's to the wall and plugged it in so I don't have to put batteries in it. The one thing I don't like is the fact that if you put batteries in one of the monitors and Then plug it in the Batteries will still drain. But both baby and parent monitor can be plugged into the wall and both can be mounted as well. I love this Cheap,works great. This could also be used for a older adult and caregiver. FYI just make sure both are on the same Channel!

Requires very loud noise before transmitting any sound and then it is very static filled. Also the range is about ten feet before the reciever just transmits static. Returned the item.
