I purchased this product after reading reviews by parents from former [@] website. After purchasing the Octotunes by Lamaze from [@], I started to question the validity of those reviews. My son does not show a tiny bit interest in the toy. I think a lot to do with the poor design of the product -- how can little toddler fingers be able to squeeze a tune? Even I have to exert some power to squeeze in a tune. This is the one and only Lamaze toy I have bought and will be the last.

This is a great toy, very cute and cuddly. I bought this for my 6 months old son and he loves it. He laughs everytime I squeeze the octopus tentacles. He's still too young to squeeze the tentacles, but he can lean on it while he's sitting.

My son is now 10 months old and this is one of his favorite toys. He loves the face and just smiles and kisses it all the time. He is not big enough to squeeze the "tentacles" yet, but I will play it for him and his face is pure delight. Great toy.

This is a fun toy, but perhaps for the older children. It was way too big and heavy for my 5 months old. There is no way she can sqeeze the tentacles and make noise by herself, it's simply too big for her hands. However, we had a lot of fun with it trying to make songs. Her eyes also light up when she sees the friendly face of the octopus.

I bought this toy thinking it would be a cute little toy that babies could play with. This thing is BIG and the legs are way too large for any baby to grasp let alone squeeze to make the faint sounds. It takes up a lot of room and this large size makes it, well, not so cute after all. Also, it claims that the legs have varied textures but this is not really true unless they are just talking about the little ruffles. Otherwise it's not tactiley very interesting. I'll be returning it.

This is definitely a toy that grows with your child. I'm a new mom, but I've given this toy as a gift many times! Although I like the old blue one better (sweeter face), the orange one is just as much fun and appeals to my baby. My niece, nephews, and friends' kids often favor this guy over their other toys, and as they get older, they learn to play with the tubes and discover their own musical talents. And strangely, this toy smells awesome, like marshmallows, and the smell stays for years! If only they can get that smell into cloth diapers and make it stay as long!

This toy is great! A lot of parents complain that their child can't press the "horns" but I enjoy playing with it with my 6 month old son. My 3 year old nephew likes to step on the legs to make the sounds as he dances around. His five year old brother often joins the fun while my son watches and laughs. I know one day he'll enjoy stepping on the legs and making music.

I like the idea of a musical toy for babies, but this is more like a musical instrument for parents to entertain babies with. The "horns" are too hard for a young baby to squeeze--my little girl does like to mouth the handle. I wind up picking out tunes I know on it while she crawls around and plays with other stuff in her room.

First of all, I really like this toy. My son could take it or leave it. He got this for Christmas last year (9 mo. old) and it just sat around. He liked it if I squeezed the legs to make music, but always looked sad that he couldn't make it do the same thing (you have to squeeze just right). He's 19 months now and sleeps with this toy. He still can't squeeze the legs to make music, but he thinks its fun to fall down on it and have it "sing" that way.
