This is exactly what we wanted -- a simple, soft light nightlight to put next to our baby's bassinet so it's not pitch black when she wakes up, but still dim enough that we can sleep comfortably in the same room. It emits a yellow light (not blue). The pink star nightlight (which we also have) emits a reddish pink glow. The star sits at an angle, not straight on, FYI.

This night light sheds the perfect amount of light...just enough to see in the room without being overbearing and or bright and distracting. I bought this in pink and blue...pink for my newborn's room to match her nursery and blue for my 3 year old daughter...she requested blue despite her room's Princess theme. I do have to say I prefer the pink one better...the pink one illuminates the room in a nice pink soft light, while the blue one only does a soft white/yellow light. The blue plastic just doesn't transfer its color into the light like the pink. Just enough light so I can manage midnight feedings and diaper changes without using any other house lights.
