I love this toilet lock! It was super easy to install and only came in two pieces- phew! It fit my toilet perfectly and I was able to adjust the height very easily. I was afraid that any kind of toilet lock would make it difficult even for adults to open it but I was wrong! This is super easy to open- all you do is press the gray button and swing the "arm" open, when you close the toilet seat it automatically locks again! YAY!

The good: It actually does work, and does what it's intended to do. Some people complained of the arm not going down far enough and their children can still open the toilet lid. I thought that would be a problem too until I realized that you have to loosen the set screw first, in order to allow the arm to go all the way down. Then when the arm is at the desired height, tighten the screw. The directions don't tell you that you need to loosen the screw first.

Now for the bad...the lock base (which installs under your toilet seat) is so thick that the toilet seat won't even come close to sitting flush against the base of the toilet. So there is an obvious downward slant from back to front. Additionally, this causes a problem when tightening the bolts on the whole assembly. You can't make it as tight as you need to, so when finished, the whole seat still moves around a little bit because it's not tight up against the toilet base.
This would be much more effective if the lock base wasn't so thick.

Seems like a great idea, but doesn't work at all! The area you bolt is very thick, so your toilet seat will be tilted downward. The arm doesn't come down far enough, so even in it's smallest configuration, it was a good three inches too wide for all three of our (different) toilets, allowing my daughter to fit her head, arms, and toys in the toilet anyway. Also, the "automatic reset" concept means that the toilet can not be used by a male (standing up), only if you are sitting on it, otherwise the seat closes. Sent it back, and wouldn't take another one if I was paid!

Do not purchase this product if you have a modern plastic toilet seat. Because the modern toilet seat is a flat flush mounted seat it will not properly secure to the toilet and then allow you to install the seat and cover. Avoid using on Kohler seat. If you do choose to purchase this regardless make sure to get longer seat bolts because this is a thicker device.

Easy to fit and use, it keeps the boy out. He can still open it a few inches, but not enough to wash his hands anymore. Now he finds other things that he shouldn't be doing...

I like this. It keeps my 1-yr-old crawler out of the toilet, but is easy enough that my 3-yr-old twins can get it open as we're potty training. It's also easy for them to put back in place, we just say "remember to close the seat and pull the arm" and they reset it themselves.

It's true that it wouldn't stop anyone from putting small items in the toilet, but I haven't had any problems with that so far.

Having just installed this, I find that the lid still opens enough that while my son probably could not drown, he very likely could get his head in far enough to perhaps have his airway closed off. He definitely could get a toy into the toilet. The design is good in theory but when I try to lift the toilet lid with the arm locked over it, the arm yields to it allowing it to open a good 4 or 5 inches. This needs to be made of something stronger.

The installation of this product requires you to put it under the toilet seat. You have to have a toilet with long bolts in order to do that. Then it will also add a gap under the seat.

This lid lock works very well. My 15 month old cannot bust through it, try as he might. The lid does lift about an inch or two, so small items can be tossed in, but it absolutely prevents playing in the toilet.

I used one for my oldest child so I knew I could buy this product with confidence for my new baby. Took under 5 minutes to install, is sturdy and impossible for a toddler to use, but my 4-yr old uses it with ease.

I have two toddlers and neither of them have been able to break this lid lock during the year we have had it. It does allow the seat lid to open an inch or so which is enough for a pacifier or other small object to get tossed in, but is strong enough to withhold a lot of yanking and prying by a two year old. I have been able to open it one-handed when necessary as well.

I love this product and it is easy for adults to use while keeping little ones out of the toilet. Now if they could come up with a way to keep them out of the toilet paper.

this toilet safety lock might be a little more expensive than others - but it is so worth it! not only does it work but it attaches via the screws on the toilet seat so you don't have to ruin your toilet with sticky stuff. the (funny)challenge: seeing if guests can figure it out!
