I thought this would be a great thing for sleeping away from home but it's more for a fun afternoon at the beach and play, rather than for all night sleep. Zippers are impossible to close/open without waking up baby and the sides are very noisy upon touch.
My daughter slept in it for one night - woke up 3x (sleeps through the night normally, even away from home) and wanted to get out...putting her back in was an ordeal. Looking for toddler-size pack'n'play instead.

We purchased this for our 3 year old to sleep in while camping. The tent seemed sturdy when we set it up but when he would roll around a bit it would tip over! We finally solved the problem by tying the lower back of the tent to a big duffel bag. So beware if you have a child that moves around much. Our son (who is a smaller 3 year old) fit comfortably it it but I don't think he would fit in it beyond the age of 4. The air mattress and sleeping bag seem very nice quality. I like the air pump as well.

My husband and I bought this for our son a year ago for camping and outings. Our son is 2 and still loves to sleep in his own tent. It is roomy enough for him to move around during sleep without being all over the family tent!! We have also used it for nap times at Grandma's. We are expecting #2 in December and plan on buying another one!!! The only thing we have had to do is readjust the frame which the instructions say you may have to do anyway!! Great, Great product!!!

I bought this to take on trips with out almost 2 year old boy. He has a hard time sleeping all night in the pack and play...so I thought I would try this! It did help him sleep all night...one night:-( He just moves around so much that he rubs against the sides and it made noise...kind of woke him up. But by the last night he slept almost the whole night. He also liked to hop right in and play for a little bit when we were diaper changing. It is a fun tent and I believe a good purchase! Way easy to set up and take down....couldn't be easier!

We bought this for our 14 month old son because we needed something to take to Europe with us. We began putting him in it every other night to get him used to it. He sleeps just as well in it as he does in his crib. I was worried he would try to stand up and tip it over, but that hasn't happened thus far. Overall it is a wonderful product- great for families who travel.

This has been a great purchase for my family and I. I wanted something to use on the beach that would keep my baby safe from the sun or a place to take a nap while we enjoy our time on the beach. The nylon was great was easy to get the sand off once we were done. I am very pleased with this product

My husband and I travel a lot. This was the perfect thing to bring with us for our 6-month old. We could set him down in it, on the hotel room floor with his toys and not worry about him traveling where we don't want him to be, or running out of toys to play with. It was like carrying the playpin with us, but minus the packing and the weight!!!

We used this tent in our room when we were on vacation in Hawaii as well as at the beach to find additional shade. Our 3 month old daughter LOVES it. Rather than a pack and play we used this at the Grandparents' house too. Our daughter squeals when we have her in it. She loves the contrasting colors. We bought the larger version thinking we would be able to use it longer. However, I am not sure if it would be appropriate for an older infant. My 8 month old niece was playing in it with her big sister and it kept collapsing on her as she tried to balance herself in it. We didn't use the mattress or the sleeping bag, but I think it would be appropriate for a 3-5year to sleep in (at least I am hoping).

We got this Peapod before a trip when our son was 5 months old. It worked well for some trips until he was 11 months old.

                                Pros:
                                - It's lightweight
                                - Fits in a large suitcase (important for airline travel)
                                - Has a little sleeping bag you can completely unzip if you just want to lay the baby on the open surface
                                - Large size will accommodate a growing child

                                Cons:
                                - The sleeping bag does not attach to the floor of the Peapod, so it shifts every single time the child moves in their sleep
                                - It can be hard to zip the zipper without waking the child up, especially if they are sleeping lightly
                                - ***Movement against the floor of the Peapod is NOISY! If your child is a restless sleeper and sensitive to noise, this may not work for you.

Unfortunately, this is just not working for us now that our son is very mobile (over a year and walking). If you have a child who sleeps deeply and doesn't move much in their sleep, this still may be helpful to you. But if your child wakes up easily with noise, this is probably not the best choice.

Unfortunately, we're still looking for a better option for our son to sleep when we're away from home, especially if we can't be with him (i.e. he's at a relative's house).

I have a 17 month old boy. At the last minute we realized we didn't want to lug a pack-n-play on a trip we were about to take. After doing some research on the web, I came across the Pea Pod. I went through hundreds of reviews on various websites. I decided on the Pea Pod Plus, because we were in a hotel room, and I recalled a few reviewers commenting on how the regular Pea Pods did not block out light like the covers on the Plus did...especially the Pink one! I wasn't sure this was going to work with my son...and we were pressed for time...so I went to one of favorite online vendor diapers.com..[...]I also tried to follow the advice of trying it in his crib the first few nights (we only had three to test this out)....although he has a pretty big crib, it didn't fit but we used it in his room. The first night, went kind of ok. We zipped the sheer part and just pulled down the cover...but the next morning he had rolled over so much he was soundly sleeping on the side of the pod! :) So....alternative plan for night two...put phone books in the bottom...just two...put the pad inside the tent! PERFECT!!! No rollover. By night three we were golden...no crying or anything when being put in the pod for bed. So...came the next big test....folding it up. Don't ask why we didn't practice before hand...especially since I had read quite a few reviews of people complaining about how hard it was to fold. I highly doubt we are exceptionally brilliant people but it took us about five minutes the first time and then a few seconds the second time. I think what people are missing is that you first collapse the sides to make it flat. Then fold the ends towards the middle...and then it is more like a tuck and fold move where the sides that pop out...you kind of tuck those inside and before you know it you got a nice small circle of tent! Now...to be fair...my sister tried it and couldn't get it after a couple of times after reading the directions...her husband watched us do it once and then got it himself...it's all individual I think! The next great thing...who ever created the pod has smarts!! (apparently the program did not like me using the name of the tissue you matter within your skull...guess it is offensive somewhere??!?!) The carrier bag had enough room (without stretching) for the pod, pad, pump, a set of pajamas, a cloth book, two big phone books, two blankets, two stuffed animals and a partridge in a pear tree! We could not believe all the mess we were getting in this bag. The pad blows up pretty quickly...only a few minutes without much effort. It helps if you know to pull out the air nozzle on the pad itself...hubby has not spent a lot of time blowing up pool or beach toys so was struggling the first few minutes and couldn't understand why. And deflating....easy and you can get it flat as a pancake. I read one review about a family who could not get it deflated enough to fit it back in the bag and left it behind. I have no idea what they were doing! Now it could be I have plenty of experience with air mattresses so I am used to putting a little body weight on them during the deflate process. :) So how did it go when we had to use it in a hotel? Great every single night! Even for nap times. At my sister's house, that he has never been too....no issues. Why though if I only have a 17month did I say great for kids? My sister was sweet enough to take my son overnight so that my husband and I could have a night to ourselves (we were at a conference not too far from her.) She has a 6.5 yr old step daughter who loved the Pea Pod. She loved playing in it and wanted to sleep in it so badly....instead of her own bed. There is more than enough room in it! I am 5'4...almost 5'5....average weight....and I could climb in there and lay down fetal position and if needed, could have slept there....if needed. The pad is really comfortable! I definitely think our son will be using this for a long time....but since we really want it to be used for sleep, we do not allow him to play in it anymore...as I am afraid it will make it hard for him to recall, come bed or nap time, that it's a place for sleep not play. To keep him familiar though, every few weeks we plan on bringing it out for a review...and maybe a sleep-in. October we are going away for a week...with a set of friends bringing an infant...about 6 months by then. I will be recommending this to her versus her traveling with the pack and play...road trips for both of us. We are contemplating buying another one as we hope to have an infant in our house sometime next year! ;) I feel no qualms about the safety of the pod. I have no concerns about breathability. I can tell you my heart skipped a beat that first morning and I saw the tent on the side...but he was fine. I even placed my face up to the fabric and realized I had no reason to be concerned. The only tiny tiny complaint I do have is that I wash the covers on the sides would go up just a little higher. There are tie downs...very quick and easy to use to keep them rolled up, but sometimes I wish I could just fling it over the top and it stay! I definitely think spending the extra money for the plus to get the covers of the sheer areas on the sides is front is WORTH IT!! Nothing like trying to watch a little TV at night, or take a nap in the daylight outside or inside, and there is so much light still getting in that it is a distraction. I see this item being used way into late toddlerhood....5...6...7 years old! Ok...depending on the size of your kid. My son is very light weight...17 months and FINALLY cracked 20 lbs...skinny runs in the family till you are about 30 years old! But he is tall/long....over 75%'tile. As you can tell from my height....that did not come from me! Oh...forgot...what about portability?!?! Soooo lightweight!!! If I had to choose between checking in a pack-and-play or taking this....bye-bye pack and play! And quite honestly...I usually can find 7 pounds of weight in mine or my husband's luggage....or just bring a roll aboard in put in there....or if your like me who travels with book bags..get a good carabineer clip...clip it on....and once you get to the plane put it in the overhead compartment...BUT DON'T FORGET IT!!! Road trips.....wow....so much more room in the car....more room for bringing wine home from wineries! If I missed anything you want to know about...ask...but I did try to cover everything. I am a cheapie and always looking for a bargain...and don't like playing full price for things...but this was definitely worth it!!! Ok...one more complaint...but not really about the Pea Pod...I have to admit...we got hardly any sleep the nights he was with us in the hotel room....apparently he also got my tendency to talk in his sleep....quite a bit and MUCH MORE LOUDLY then me...and it kept waking both of us up. At home...it only wakes my husband up...although he sometimes states he can't tell which of us woke him up as we both were talking! My son sleeps in his own room down the hall...and I don't hear it. So if they could make a sound proof Pea Pod I would really appreciate it. Thank goodness in October we will be in a place that will have two rooms!! But hubby can fall back asleep in seconds....I am not so fortunate!Aww...just saw I could add images...we have a few of my son knocked out in the Pea Pod....but I'm too lazy and tired (it's past 11pm...my bedtime is 10pm...but I just had to do this while I remembered)....Sorry! :(
