The problem with these are that the tabs, which are meant to make it easier for adults to use, are much easier for babies to use. I watched my 19 month old merely pinch the tabs together, the rubber lining gripped the doorknob, she turned the knob and she was in the bathroom. I called the company, they advised me it's intended for up to 24 month olds, altho the packaging says for "Child".

I bought this for my exterior doors. They are so hard to open that I am buying a new brand. I think these might be a fire hazard. Sometimes I can open the door on the first try. Usually, I have to try several times. I'm a woman with small hands, which may be the problem. My husband has not complained nor have I seen him struggle.

I have several of these in my house to keep my daughter from opening doors she shouldn't for the most part it does what it's suppose to do but you should check on every now and them to make sure the two pieces are latched on properly. I had found the pieces on the floor one day to my office. somehow the two parts came undone???
