After hours of trying to reinstall our old magnetic locks in our new place, and getting frustrated by the inaccurate drill holes etc, I scrapped them and bought these. I was shocked at how INCREDIBLY easy it was to install these. It took all of 10 minutes. I followed the instructions exactly, down to rubbing alcohol on the surface first, and 10 days later my 2 year old (wild man as we like to call him) has not been able to pull the adhesive free. I'd say that's a success.

I was skeptical about these adhesive magnet locking systems because of all the mixed reviews, but am very happy I decided to try them out anyway. I've installed these locks in my kitchen and they are perfect!!! I hate that many other locks allow the cabinet doors or drawers to be opened an inch or so before the lock engages because little fingers get squished! These locks don't budge. As long as you follow the instructions and are careful they are easy to install. So far my son has pulled on the cabinet doors a little, found they didn't open and moved on. I also like that you can disengage the locks when needed.

We installed these on the kitchen cabinets in our rental apartment so that we didn't have to drill into the nice wood cabinets. We initially bought one starter set based on the mixed reviews. It worked like a charm and installed very easily. We then bought several more packs to do the rest of the kitchen and parts of the bathroom. Here's where we had problems. Not all of the latches work consistently. You can't trust that when the door closes that it's latched/locked. On some of the doors if you wiggle the door in the right way the latch come open (without the magnet!). On others, the latch mysteriously no longer worked as soon as they were installed. It's like the internal magnet was somehow reversed. I thought it was just a defective unit but when I removed it and replaced with a new one, we had the same problem. (Expensive option) I emailed Kidco but have not heard back.

this randomly unlocks/locks itself when not in the vicinity of the magnet/key. also my son broke two of these locks before he was even walking.

I bought these locks because they seemed more secure than the little latches and because they can be set to an "off" position.

They don't work! Although the adhesive worked for some and not for others, I figured it was no big deal and I'd just use screws. Now that we're actually using them with our baby, though, we've discovered that the latch doesn't latch unless you push on it from the inside. I'm aggravated!

My husband would always break my cabinets to get to things because he could never figure out how to open the cabinets once I put the baby proofing on them. This product has a key and is very easy to use for adults. As long as the key is out of reach of children they'll never get in.

Such a brilliant concept, but unfortunately this product is cheaply made. Of the four that I installed, only one lock works the rest have broken. My baby isn't even mobile yet and the locks have not been heavily used...ugh.

I thought I did my research on the best magnetic lock and boy was I wrong in my final choice. My husband and I spent around $100 on these locks for our house and all of them are now broken. My daughter managed to tug at the cabinets enough to break the clips that hold them shut. Before they were broken, they would even open without the use of the magnet key. I would not recommend these.

I rent an apartment and we are not allowed to drill holes on the cabinets. I found this product and bought it right away. It works great and keeps my very curious son away front he garbage and cleaning products. Read the instructions CAREFULLY and follow them closely. At first, it was hard to understand the installation instructions. Actually, we installed the first one wrong and it was not aligned properly so it didn't work. I had to remove the part that goes on the door. Let me tell you, the sticky part is tough, and it took me several days to remove it. I contacted the company and they told me to use 3M double sided foam tape to replace it. I have not done it yet but i plan on doing it.
Overall, it works great and I'm buying another pack.

The adhesive worked well on the cupboards in our apt. The locks were easy to install. The key is included with this set. The locks are sold without the key, presumably for those like myself who now need to purchase the locks only rather than the entire set with the key. The key holder is magnetized, I don't believe there's any concern that the key will fall out of its holder.

These work well if (1) there is enough surface area on the inside of the door and on the cabinet frame for at least most of the adhesive (door piece is 1.25" wide, 2" tall; adhesive part of cabinet piece is 1" wide, 1.25" deep), (2) you follow the directions carefully and LET THE ADHESIVE SET FOR 24 HRS BEFORE ACTIVATING LATCH, and (3) you don't have anyone in the house that REALLY yanks on the drawer/door. They do come with screws as a backup if the adhesive isn't enough for you.
