After spending three days camping and attending a (family-friendly) music festival with my newly potty trained 2 year old, I can honestly say that I don't know how we would have done it without this potty. The highlight was whipping it out in the middle of a concert for her to poop (when she's gotta go, she's gotta go), but we used it constantly at the campground and at the festival venue. It was small to carry around, quick and easy to set up, and easy to dispose of the bag afterword. It was a much better alternative to the port-a-potties. I also used the potty myself in the tent in the middle of the night. When my kids outgrow this potty I'm hanging onto it. By the way, I had no problems with the potty collapsing - as others have noted, you just have to snap the legs into position properly.

This is an incredibly versatile on-the-go potty for urban jungle toilet-training. Obviously good for keeping sanitary bottoms in public bathrooms, but this gem can transform your stroller into a porta-potty for emergencies in the playground and the subway (yes, that's right, the subway-- with a strategically draped coat or blanket) when you've taken the plunge to undies only. My daughter marvels to use the baggies, that really absorb and are discreet to dispose of (they really look no different than a diaper when tossing them in the trash. Great, versatile and durable product. I actually bought a second to donate to my daycare, since it works so well for us.

We love this compact, stand-alone travel potty. Although it can be used as a seat atop a full-sized toilet, I prefer using it on its own to avoid public restrooms altogether. It took 2 uses before I realized how to lock the legs into place. The hinge where the leg attaches to the seat has two notches. The lower notch allows the legs to rotate. To lock the legs, put the legs into the standing position, then push each leg UP into the seat to lock the hinge in the top notch. My daughter loves this potty and actually wants to use it in the house sometimes. I highly recommend it and have already bought one for a friend.

My daughter potty trained at 2.5, and very easily, just because she got so attached to her "green potty." Because it was portable, we could easily take it everywhere, so she didn't need to adjust to other potties (this was great early on, but then honestly, a bit tricky when we wanted to switch her to using an adult toilet-- she kept demanding the "green one"). The potty was fantastic as a travel potty, but my daughter didn't take to it as a toilet-cover.

We have gotten so much use out of this. It allowed us to get out of the house with confidence, especially going to parks, etc. that may not have facilities, or ones that are well-maintained. We are not squeamish about using it anytime, anywhere, even in parking lots, the hatchback of our car, etc. It is easy to use, and we have never had a problem with pinching. You just have to set it up right, which is a cinch. I recommend that name brand liners, too. They absorb the urine well and have never leaked for us.

I don't know if these 4-star reviews are of a previous version of the potette, I have the potette plus bought from diapers.com, and the legs absolutely lock! You just have to be sure to snap them in place (I found it to be very straightforward to figure out on your own, but there is also a youtube on the product website - manufacturers all seem to do this now). So it's very easy to use, really strong and well made, and so useful for potty training. The amazon reviews are far more on point.

My son is 2 and 3/4, and uses this everywhere (he's still sometimes afraid of toilets away from home, and when he has to go he has to GO -- then and there). This little invention is incredibly smart, simple and convenient. It rocks! Especially when you're at a park, on a road trip, or anyplace away from a bathroom, or where the bathroom is dirty (we live in new york). Love it. You can use regular bags for it, but the potette bags are really well made with an absorbent pad, so they don't leak (which I appreciated earlier this evening at an older family member's house, when my son was afraid to use her toilet and we set up the potette on her pristine bathroom floor...).

This potty has saved us so many times. In fact, just this weekend, we were in the car no where near a restroom (that I would take a 3 year old in) and my daughter "HAD TO GO!" So we pulled over and she used this potty. It is so great! We bring it to the beach, to amusement parks, absolutely everywhere! I recommend this to EVERY friend who is trying to potty train! A GREAT buy!

I bought this as a travel potty for the kids however as some of the other commenters have mentioned the legs don't really lock. I tried to use it for my son and when he sat on it it collapsed with him still sitting on it and his fingers got pinched. Poor guy wouldn't go potty after that.

With my daughter I ended up squatting to hold the legs in place since it also almost collapsed with her too.

Bottom line it is nice to be able to have something especially since most public restrooms are just yucky.

i gave it 4 stars because i had trouble the one & only time i had to use it free standing - the leg didn't lock in place easily in my opinion and it collapsed. it's great for traveling. we took it on vacation & it was great. my almost 3 yr old has no trouble using it & it's really sturdy when used on toilet seats. this was easily stashed in a small tote bag/diaper bag. def would recommend this to anyone especially if public restrooms are involved or just as a potty seat to keep lil ones from falling in. i just wish the free standing legs locked better.

I read all the reviews and was super excited about this product...even bought one for my nephew...had to return both! When my daughter would sit on it in the "potty" position, not the seat cover...it would collapse..... am I missing some type of locking thing on this potty??!! I really want to like this thing....

Daughter refuses to sit on big toilets because she fell into one at someone's house not holding tightly. As a result, she started having accidents ALL THE TIME when we'd be away from home. This was the perfect solution! It isn't small by any means but it fits in my large purse okay for when I think we'll need it. She has an area to hold and it's all plastic so it's easy to wipe off. We've also needed to use it "freestanding" in a pinch and she had no reservations. I'm buying one for all my friends when their kids hit this age!

Awesome potty, nothing like it here in Saskatchewan. I only gave it 4 stars because it can seem tricky to lock it in and out of position. One of the first times using it, I hadn't fully locked the legs into position and it collapsed, pinching my little girls fingers!!! Never made that mistake again :( However, very versatile as it will even go on a toilet seat. With three kids now and another on the way, someone always has to go when we're out and about and it is very worth the little money. Also, one of my boys didn't want to use the public washrooms when he was first potty training but would happily use the Potette!

My daughter did not like public restrooms one bit, this is easy to use in the minivan, where it's familiar. Sets up in a second and the bags are easily disposed of. Also doubles as a seat in a restroom. Sturdy enough to pass on to a friend when it's no longer needed

I simply love this product. With nearly three-year-old twins, going into public bathrooms is challenging. I keep this in the back of my car, and they prefer using this to going into a restroom. As a germ-o-phobe, this is just fine with me! They're potty-trained now, and we haven't slowed down our normal routine at all - thanks to having this potty available whenever we need it.

My son would spend 1/2 a day in the park with his nanny everyday and they would take this potty with them. It was very useful for consistency in potty training. Also great for road trips, camping...anywhere you don't have access to a clean toilet. It is a bit difficult to get the legs set up for the standalone potty position when you are in a hurry, otherwise it works great.
