The directions seriously stink. I've been trying to lock all 4 side bars into place for an hour now. I'd get two done and then the other two wouldn't lock. I'm SOOO thankful another reviewer wrote about pulling up on the green handle while locking ALL top side rails into place. This worked for me! This thing is huge, although very attractive. Not sure we have room for it in our apartment.

I was so excited for this product to arrive, but then found myself sweating for 30 minutes trying to figure out a way to assemble it... the instructions were so misguiding and unclear, i was google-ing anything with further info, but couldn't find a thing. until i finally figured it out, I honestly can't remember how i got it to open.
Aside from the assembly difficulties- this playpen is super sturdy and visually appealing, very well constructed, it comes with a bag in case you're traveling, and a good quality fitted sheet.

It should NOT take 2 hours and a call to customer service for two educated adults to assemble anything! HORRIBLE instructions. If you still take the chance and order this, let me help you. Pull the greenish-yellow loop on the floor of the playard up as high as the rails, and THEN try to lock the side rails. THIS IS KEY INFORMATION THAT IS NOT INCLUDED IN THE INSTRUCTIONS.

I needed a safe place for my 7 month old to play without the dangers of getting into his brother's small toys and snacks left out. He sat up early and was very bored with being in a playgym or exersaucer so I thought this would be great. I was right!! He loves to play with all his toys and if he tips over or falls forward trying to reach an escaped toy he lands on a very padded surface. One reason I went with this one is that the bottom rests on the floor and with our big boy (he's already 21 lbs!) I don't have to worry about the bottom sinking like a regular pack and play would! Plus the height of the sides is taller so he will be safe in it without climbing out for longer as well! The machine wash and dry sheet is also a plus...its super soft like t-shirt material. As far as setting up it was very easy. You just need to follow the directions EXACTLY...I started to stray from them thinking I knew how to do it since I've set up many a pack and plays in my time and I couldn't get it to do what I wanted so I stopped read the directions again and followed them and what do you know it was set up perfectly in minutes!! I say its a great product and if you need a safe place for your little one to play while you get some things done you need this!! I will recommend to all my mommy friends for sure!!

I don't know if I received a defective product or if it is just that horrible. Between myself and another adult we were never able to fully open it and almost could not get the parts that were opened closed back up. It took us 30 minutes to get it closed back up just so I can return it. I will never buy Joovy again ....even if it was just a defect.

I did not want to buy a pen because they are all complete junk. With only 30 pound weight limits, and wobbly when you merely look at them, I do not trust modern day pens. This is super sturdy, and it is large to boot! It was easy to assemble. The sheet is 100% cotton, so it is soft and comfortable. Love it!
