Comments about Wonder Bumpers - Wild Thing (38 Set):

These bumpers solve so many problems! Not a suffocation hazard, padded to protect the headbangers, prevents limbs from sticking out, and are nice enough to look at that when I convert the crib to a bed I'll keep them on for decoration. Great product at a fair price. You can do just fine without any bumpers at all, but if you have a very active baby prone to self-destruction, these will save you many nights and naps of heart ache!

The design (functional, not print) of this bumper is so well thought-out! With my first child I didn't buy them because of the price. This time around I thought I'd make them myself. I priced out the fabric, padding, zippers....and there is NO WAY you can make these yourself at a price that is low enough to make it worth your time. I considered using velcro but as the product website explains, velcro that is strong enough to hold them together has rough edges that can cut babies and velcro that is soft enough isn't strong enough to resist prying toddler hands. With that in mind, this price is actually a fair price for the product.

NOW the IMPORTANT stuff!! I used no bumpers with my first daughter because of the safety issues. That proved to be a give-and-take. She was a headbanger. When she learned to sit up she'd fall asleep sitting up then fall over into the crib slats, bruising her head and making her so angry that we'd have to start the falling-asleep process all over again (repeat this multiple times a night). We went through this again when she learned to stand. THEN she became a headbanger....she'd be so angry at having to stay in the crib that she'd purposely bang her head into it because she knew then I'd come in to rescue her. Its so painful to know your child is getting all banged up but if you stop them then they won't go to sleep because they'll stay up forever as long as you're in the room with them. SO, that was a long several months. BUT i didn't buy these bumpers at that time.

Now my second daughter is 4 months old and she loves to roll all over the crib, getting her chubby thighs stuck in between the slats then screaming until I save her. With these bumpers she can still stick her feet or hands out but can't get her whole arm or leg out so she's not trapped. This reminds me of yet another benefit! Both my girls fall asleep easier when they're able to look out between the crib slats as they drift off.

OK OK this is a long review but I'm just so excited to not have to deal with these problems that we had with my first daughter! Last one I'll mention...since these bumpers wrap around the outside of the corners of the crib, they also provide a cushion for the sharp outer corners. My first daughter would often fall into the edge of the crib when learning to walk. I protected her (after several bruises and a little bleeding) with the furniture edge guards that go on with double sticky tape. Now that she's a toddler though I can't keep them on for my second daughter because daughter #1 peels them off constantly.

If this is your first kid and you don't know what problems to expect when they learn to roll/sit up/stand/fall over all the time, get these bumpers and save yourself the heartache!
